Re: Buying furniture for a GooD price (and i mean GOOD!) in Toronto
hey guys,
so just wanted to know whether anyone of you guys know where i can buy living room furniture (i.e. leather couches etc.) AND bed room sets etc.
A friend of mine got a 3 piece leather recliner couch set for 1800CDN from a store in sauga. he told me that they recently closed down. I dunno if he got a clearance deal on the furniture.
But i really do not want to pay the insane amounts the Brick or IKEA charges for furniture.
Anyone here know of some furniture place in Scarborough or Toronto or anywhere in the GTA who have good quality living room furniture and bed room sets for a great price?
thanks

With big box stores, you are paying for their huge mark-up ...
Go with the smaller guys ....
I would never buy Ikea furniture (couches/mattresses/etc) if you paid me to ...

Ikea is only good for smaller things, not actual furniture you sit or sleep on.
Brick is never good for anything, Leons included.
As for a Miss furniture that closed down, I have one in mind and I am praying it is them
Anyway you probably won't be getting anything remotely decent at Ikea prices.

Yeah if you think ikea and the brick are expensive, heads up when you start looking at higher quality stuff.
I am actually looking to buy a good quality bedroom set. How much does a very good quality bedroom set cost? Can you get a really good quality bedroom set for $3000, the one we found that we really like and seems like really good quality is almost 6 grand, seems to much to me._______________

Although it's very seasonol as to when they have certain pieces, and you don't have a selection, Costco has great prices on furniture but basically you have to fall in love with what they have.
I have found the best place to buy furniture is Consumers Distributing Furniture Div Ltd
(416) 787-0668
Address :
1200 Castlefield Ave
Toronto, ON , M6B1G1
They're located north of Eglinton, west of Dufferin.
Not a pretty warehouse but you can see something in a nice store, and go there and order it and if it's one of their lines, they will order it for you. They have amazing deals, or at least they did several years back. They sell a lot of high end furniture at prices MUCH lower than the fancy expensive stores.
I have saved hundreds on items there and I'm talking BIG difference in prices, not just a few bucks.
I have to admit I've not been there in several years but I'm sure they're still a good deal. They were once "related" to the old Consumer's Distributing but believe me, it doesn't mean they sell low end, in the box furniture.Last edited by deltone; Apr 29th, 2009 at 10:52 AM. Unless they've all closed down in the past few years since I moved from Toronto, there are a ton of furniture stores on one section of Kennedy Road. They're all in one area so if you don't mind a bit of haggling, you can play them all off each other and get some good deals.
I used to go there for all my furniture needs when I lived in Toronto.
Edit: I forget exactly where on Kennedy Road, but it's the area where the Brick Warehouse is.Last edited by Anteros; Apr 29th, 2009 at 10:59 AM.

Brick is over priced for the crappy quality you get.
Yes, you can get a very good quality bedroom set for $3000.00.
Check out Thompson Fine Furniture in Aurora; they had a 20% off sale in March and a free night stand if you buy 3+ pieces.
Thompson Fine Funiture has a good online catalogue with lots of options (everything is orderable but not everything is displayed in store).
