RE: iPod Touch 8GB and iPhone 3G 8GB
iPod Touch 8GB = $279.99
iPhone 3G 8GB = $199.99
Am I missing something here?
Isn't an iPhone an iPod Touch but with a GPS, phone, etc. Whats the point of getting an iTouch when you can just buy an iPhone for way cheaper, and you don't even have to pay for the phone service if you don't want too..
I know I'm missing something here, so someone please explain

The phone is subsidized because you are required to get a 3 year contract when you sign up.
Therefore you pay $30x12monthsx3years, making it a bit more than a touch.

You HAVE to buy a contract with it? Why can't you just get one off eBay or something.. or can you not use it if you do this?

I bought a Ipod Touch for $250, but returned it to get an ATT Refurb iPhone for $250.
If you can get your hands on a iPhone for close to the same cost of an Ipod Touch, then it is a good deal. It was great with the 1st gen being sold w/o required activation in the US.

Get an iPhone on eBay for $700.
Or get a touch for $200
P.S. You don't really buy contracts...
