Hi guys
A family member is interested in getting this car.
Is there a way of getting it cheaper in the States at this point?
If not, do you guys know the wholesale cost of the car so I have buyer power over the dealer?
Should they get the sports package too? (sunroof, etc)
Any tips if they should wait till the market is lower in the year to buy, or some incentives?

I love my car. I really recommend the sport package and the standard transmission but each o their own.
As AGR-1 quoted, this is a terrific deal for the car. I would suggest that whoever you think you are giving advice to that they lease the car and if they really like it, then buy it out at the end of the lease.
Argue all you want with the dealer but he has the upper hand. This is the hottest car out there right now, there are normally waiting lists so I doubt there will be a downturn in this market. If he don't sell it to you, he has another customer in the waiting room.

I am driving the c-230 and love it. Although I don't have the 4-matic. I drive a six-speed and the transmission on this thing is soooo smooth!.
I got all the available package except for the sound pkg. I think the sunroof is well worth it! 
btw if you are really interested in getting one, my sales was great and gave me a great lease deal on this car.

friend has to wait 3 months for his 6 speed C300 with Navi.
Very nice and smooth I must say.

There should be good availability of these cars, they are selling/leasing them in vast quantities. At this time its the best seller that the dealers have consequently they are not very motivated to give massive discounts.
The cost is approximately 9% less than the MSRP on a car that lists for 40,000 you can figure that the cost is 36,400 how much of that spread can you negotiate?
In the GTA all the dealerships are factory owned and they will usually uphold a certain pricing structure, the out of the GTA dealers (the ones in the 905/519/705 area code) might be in a position to give you a better discount.
You only want to lease these cars....with the least amount down...to arrive at your monthly payment budget...they will show you 18,000 or 24,000 klm / year lease and if you drive more you can go up to 40,000 klms per year.

You all like the c230 4matic that much? I test drove the 2008 and compared it to the 328xi, A4 2.0T quattro, g35x and is250 AWD, and they all blew the c230 out of the water in terms of handling, suspension, and acceleration. Fake leather to boot.
Has the '09 received any improvements?

You cannot compare the C230 with the 328 let alone the XI, nor with the Audi Turbo Quattro or the G35 but it does compare well, perform and handle better and has more room than the IS 250.
The C230 is the smallest of the powertrains and performs very well for what it has. It really depends what you are looking for and when you get over the fact that the car is not an extension of your below the waist member, then you can objectively and practically look for vehicles. 0 - 60 is not important to most folks and neither is the ability to race around the on or off ramp.

In vancouver, they have a crapload of C230 on the lot because nobody wants them. If you price out a C300 vs a C230, you'll see why.
The C300 is backordered for a few months.
One thing I find funny is that the 'intelligentkey' system found on cars like the camry and Altima is an option on the C-Class. ($975)

The C300 was #2 on my list, and honestly gave the ES350 a run for its money, but that's how that one ended up. C300 had a lot going for it, but the high lease rate and higher price than the ES350, combined with less room (I'm 6'6", inches matter), worse seat feel, and availability issues, the ES350 was the logical choice. At $39,900 base (and I mean WELL APPOINTED base, with leather+moonroof, heated&cooled seats, keyless start, etc etc), it's well worth considering instead of the IS250.

why is the C300 more expensive?
why lease versus buy the car outright?
should I wait to buy this car like a month or two, maybe when the market is not so hot for the dealer?

Depends how you feel about the long term ownership experience of luxury German automobiles. Don't know about mB, but BMW inflates their residuals so much, their leases are a pretty good deal.
My suggestion is lease, and if you like, buy the residual out at the end. If the car is a crapload of trouble, give it back.
The c300 has a bigger more powerful engine, hence the higher base price. It can also be equipped better than the c230 for not much more. Demand is much higher though, so I was unable to even test drive one back in April. They are less likely to sell below MSRP.

does anyone know if there is Distronic Plus in Mercedes C300 and C230?
Importing from the US.: do you guys think it's worth it? Considering how Canadians are getting dinged for car purchases right now
And re: leasing, I think it varies from dealer to dealer? I wonder if the depreciation rate is worth the leasing rate versus buying.

I would find out if MB Canada will honor warranty for cars bought in the US. If I had to own another MB, I will definitely buy an extended warranty for the car.
As well, how does leasing work when you live in Canada and buying a car in the US?
