Does anybody find this a good deal? I think I average less than $2 on taxes for my grocery bill every time I go. Maybe this a good time for other stuff that Superstore sells...like TVs or something.

Yea, I usually go there for foods only so no tax day is never a real deal to me.

OP the deal is even better my friend. You don't only save on the GST but what was formerly the PST too!

That's right. It's this thing called the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) that you don't have to pay at the Real Canadian Superstore for today! Face With Rolling Eyes

Because we have no PST/HST, it's actually save double the GST in Alberta. Only exclusions are the standard things, alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, transit tickets, etc.

Saw a switch at RCSS for $450 - a whole $2 in savings than if I had purchased it for $400+tax anywhere else.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

In provinces where there is PST or HST, we are saving gst + pst. So we are just paying the price before tax. The bill actually shows pst & GST are added, then the same amts are reduced. What do you mean by save the double GST? Are you saying that 5% GST is added and 10% is reduced so that the net total is 95 % of the price? Ie. If a tv’s price is $100, the net total you pay is only $95?

I have never taken advantage of a Superstore sale such as this, but it is advertised as "Save double the GST". I suspect that if the no tax is treated that way in other provinces, then yes you will pay 5% less with no tax.

Superstore will price match, so just bring in a Walmart flyer and pay 400 after tax. (Or 380 in Alberta)
