recipe for kettle corn?
look online for some recipes for kettle corn and tried it last night. didn't turn out so well. i had heated up some oil and added the corn and sugar at the same time. the heat caused the sugar to caramelize and burn.
any tips?
and i'm looking for coconut oil too, i assume that coconut oil results in tastier popcorn.

Reminds me of that episode of King of Queens with Ray Romano. They're in the club and their code word incase they needed help was "kettle corn". LOL ahhh... brings back memories.

Temperature must be lower!
Check your oil temperature before you add in sugar:
270-290F yields soft sugar coating (not crunchy, almost sticky)
290-315F yields hard sugar coating, crunchy.
315-350F will give u that rock hard candy caramel
Use a thick bottomed pan (cast iron) it will keep the temps more stable and provide a much more even popping surface
