I personally like C2D E8400 better and it's a bit cheaper too ...

Recommend some components, budget = $1000
So, what components would you recommend for a new build with a budget of $1000?
Components on hand:
19" LCD, 20" WFP2007 LCD
eVga 8800GT 512MB
WD 500GB SATA2 HD
Some sort of dvd burner (ide)
I'd like to get a Q6600, but if a Wolfdale / Yorkdale processor is faster, I'll get that. The primary purpose is gaming.
So, what cpu, mobo, ram (4gb?), case, psu would you get? I'm thinking:
Q6600($280), Asus Maximus Formula ($260), 4gb OCZ Vista Platinum ($105-$20MIR), Antec Armor ($180-$30MIR), OCZ 700w GameXStream ($130-$30MIR), Scythe Infinity ($60) = $1015 (less $80 MIR). Prices are local (memory express) and will be cheaper if I shop around, but shipping costs will be high due to the weight of the items.
Critique away!

CPU: If you're just gaming the E8400 is going better for the foreseeable future.
MOBO: Asus Maximus Formula SE (make sure you get the DDR2 version), little overkill and lacks some feature you might want. I would check out the P5K-Premium less money and oc's about the same
RAM: OCZ 4GB OCZ2P8004GK DDR2 PC2-6400 - $99 AMIR (infonec.com)
Power supply: Corsair 620W HX - quieter than OCZ and has modular cables - not to mention cheaper.
HS: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme - $50 + 120mm fan .. better than Infinity and about the same price._______________

Of course!
But I'm not willing to spend and an extra $200 to go from 5-5-5 ram to 4-4-4. That's too much for me.
Tom's cpu charts shows that it's much faster than a Q6600... weird.
There's such a huge variety of mobos out there it's just confusing... with the new lower power CPUs, I guess there's no good reason to get a 1kW psu...
