Recommendation - Rogers HD PVR

I was wondering is it worthwhile to purchase a HD PVR.
I know there are threads about negotiating free rental from Rogers, but I am limited in my negotiation because I live in a Townhouse where we have negotiated a bulk agreement on cable services. Going with Bell route would probrably not work.

Now I saw an ad in F/S for the HD PVR for $299. I am thinking of buying one at this price than pay for the rental.

What are everyone's thoughts on this.

I couldn't believe the price you said but you are right - that's a smokin' hot deal. Not surprisingly it's now sold out.
