Vizio is not really available in Canada. I have only seen them at Tiger Direct. They are not a very good TV in my opinion. I suggest you get a Samsung or a Sharp.
Worse case, get a Viewsonic at Costco. At least you have a decent warranty there.

recommendations for a lcd tv?
we don't watch TV that often, don't really need all the fancy stuff, just need a plain LCD TV, about 32', 37' or 42', that takes PC input...
i did a bit of google searching and found that Cnet rated the Vizio VX37L pretty highly for a budget LCD. does anyone have any reviews? what other models would you suggest?
also, i wasn't able to find vizio tv's at fs, bb, dell.ca, costco.ca or sears.ca... does anyone know who carries them?
thanks in advance!Last edited by madknife; Jan 19th, 2008 at 04:38 PM.

I just got from Dell canada the Westinghouse Digital 32" ws LCD tv ... thought it doesn;t have the specs of my Dell 24" ws lcd its still has very good quality for a under $800 pricetag. any of the channels that have good high quality feeds on a rogers digital box come thru nice & clear & sharp on it thru s-vhs hookup.

i'm looking at the 700-1000 range... which i don't think is going to get me a decent Sharp... again, i don't watch TV that often, and as long as it looks OK and the build quality (not picture quality) is fine, then it would be good for me.
thanks!

also, does anyone know any CANADIAN review sites? ALL of the ones i've visited (and wasted my day on) are for U.S., and the models they recommend cannot even be found in Canada...
thanks!

I just bought a Soyo 42" lcd from Walmart, it sells for $747, I also know someone who works there and they got me a 10% discount on top (buy it on that persons birthday and it's 20%) so I got it for $760 tax in, so if you know anyone that works there it makes it a really hot deal. It has tons of inputs 3 hdmi, component, s-video, composite, VGA and spdif as well as tuner. Esthetically it looks great too. I love it, I was concerned buying a budget LCD like this as I was going to go brand name but I am glad I did. HD looks amazing (using a Bell 9242 HD PVR Plus with hdmi connection), standard def varies depending on channel/program but still good, DVD's look amazing, PC looks good, I don't game at all. Also a small point but the remote is nice too and not bulky or awkward like a lot of them are and also extremely convenient to use, unfortunately I can't get the Bell remote to control the TV. Very happy with it so for and would highly recommend it for the value. With a little tweaking of colors, brightness etc....it'll stand up to most lcd's out there for sure. I will post some pics of it and some HD content for anyone interested.
