Recommendations for places to get oil changed

Not at all handy. I've been getting it done through a private mechanic for many years. Recently, bought a new car and mechanic is revommending while its under warranty, to get oil changes etc done through a place that provides receipt etc in the event there are any issues related to warranty. I've heard Canadian Tire tends to cause more issues than they fix but are there other places that are more reliable for these types of day to day maintenance services?

Your indy mechanic can sign off on anything, as long as you keep a receipt of the oil and filter.

Have you checked the dealer.. just ask flor oil change and nothing else .... for our Odyssey it's $60.. which is synthetic as required. Oil +filter outside would be $35-40.. so for an extra 20... it's one less thing to worry about..

The dealers here even have a chart with comparison prices to their competitors. The key is to say no to any upselling unless that item is required.

You can go to any place like Jiffy lube, Minute lube, Mobil1, just don't get sucked in by their Upselling tactics.

Just go to the dealer. The oil change itself is really not that more expensive. Plus they will always run your vin to do any recalls, campaigns, software updates that other places can't do.

All places will upsell you. It's your own responsibility to educate yourself to decide if you need the extras or not. You can learn from going to your car's specific owner's discussion forums.

Where ever you go, make sure they do a proper service.

Oil change, lube latches, locks, hinges, check all lights, check/adjust tires, under body check, brake check, lube weather strips, check/fill all fluids, check wipers, check battery,

Many places don't even do half of this.

And I'm perfectly fine with that :)

I've had great experiences with Toronto based startup that sends you a mobile mechanic https://www.fiix.io/.
They've got a live chat for a quote online that works really well.

The humble founder is an absolute badass, having survived cancer and turning down an offer to work for uber Uber.
As to the company, they've been a part of YCombinator (which Dropbox was incubated from) and have a deal with the Dragon's Den.

Totally agree. I found that oil changes at the dealer are not that much more expensive compared to 3rd party. The only inconvenience with dealerships is that they take longer to finish the job. Sometimes, if they're busy, they want you to leave the car with them and pick it up in the afternoon.

OP is in Calgary, but this may be of use for those in the GTA.
