Did you PM at Markham RD and 14th, and are they sold out? Did Empress Walk have many left? I just tried the one on Eglinton near Laird but was unsuccessful at PM. My printout indicated the deal expired yesterday. Also, unless the RFD link is used, the NCIX website shows $299. I finally showed the salesperson the $159 link and he started making excuses. Wasted 45 mins of time already and he wanted to investigate more, so I just walked out.
Anyways, how are u PM'ing?

My bro wanted one too, we hunted one down at North York's FS (empress walk) where he got his as well for 159.99.
Will hook them up tonight and test it out with a DVD/Rogers HDPVR.
What worries me is that I hear the speakers should not be wall mounted as they're not meant to be used this way. I was looking into mounting them and now I am somewhat concerned I would not get optimal sound.
Can anyone describe their setup and how they feel about it?
Thanks.

I have mine setup away from the walls. Its true that if you put them against walls the sound isnt going to be at its best. These speakers are meant to be at least a foot away from the walls in order to get the best sound. I'm no true audiophile but even I could tell the difference between them set against the wall and not against.
Crank these babies up and play the Halo3 announcement trailer downloaded from XBOXLive on your 360. Its amazing....

Yep, that was the location. When I got there, around 4:30pm, they had 2 closed boxes and one open one ( defective I was told). I got the first one. Showed the sales clerk a copy of the NCIX page ( printed) and he signed it and instructed the cashier to give it to me for the price. I have to say I was very surprised. Guess some are nice guys. I just asked for a pricematch very politely.
My bro went to the empress walk location around 8:30 where they had 2 left. Showed them my receipt along with the printout and they gave him the same deal, no hassle.
Since the deal expired yesterday, I am not sure if the printout of NCIX will be useful. The receipt might though.
I would check online for which stores have it then call the store and give them the webid.

Thanks Refugee! markdweasel - if you can post as well it would really help - more ammo for when I go back to Yonge/Dundas w/ my receipt (and Refugee's receipt is for $179.99).

The Futureshop near St Clair West and Keele street had about 6 boxes today. A couple were open box.
I'm still debating.

Is this true even with an optical out on the sound card?...
I use my computer as a HTPC setup and I have a lot of dvix/xvid movies. Would a setup with a cheap 5.1 sound card with an optical out work well with these speakers and my requirements?
How are these speakers for movies?
I've had the Z-5300 in the past, and the BASS was much too much for the movies. I decided to return them.

It is true, since there are no analog outputs for front/rear/sub woofer the connection via digital will be outputed as 2.1 unless you get a sound card with a hardware encoder like this........

If your playing media that is already encoded like dvds then the surround will work and using these speakers its phenomenal.
Im in your situation as well, im debating on either buying this sound card or getting the Z-5500's since it has a built in decoder.

I didn't really look into it too much. I was just passing through the store to see a friend that works there when I remembered this thread/deal. The boxes were retaped (and they did a bad job of it too), so I assume they're open-box. It didn't look like there was a discount on them.
