Reliable Mechanic for Hyundai Elantra
I've came across a few recommendations for mechanics in this forum. My 07 Hyundai Elantra is at 74000 km, and it feels the car's taking a beating, so I would like to check up on the car (brakes, steering, suspension, etc).
Does it matter if the mechanic has experience dealing with hyundai elantras or any mechanic will do generally?

Finding a mechanic you can trust is more important than whether they have worked on specific models IMO.

If I remember correctly, your Hyundai Elantra has a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. If you feel things are taking a beating, why would you take it to a mechanic who will for sure charge you to fix it all, regardless of how nice a guy he is. He has to earn a living and at the very least has to charge you for the time he spent on the car. Then again, he would also not know what parts are covered and for how much. What if some of the items were covered under your warranty? They get fixed for free.
I know folks are dealer adverse and at times I agree but, if there is a possibility of stuff getting fixed under warranty, of service bulletins being applied and, of tech notes being complied with, why take it to an independent person who does not have this information or capability?
