i ordered one off dealextreme for like $7 or something, it hasn't arrived yet though, people reviewed it say it was pretty decent and way better than paying for a genuine Nikon one.

i got a knockoff brand from ebay. its works pretty good. ive used it to take a lot of nighttime long exposure photography. only problem i find is that if you are behind the camera, you must have the remote pretty close to operate it (since the sensor is on the front). but if you are in front of the camera for a self-portrait, the range is pretty good.

cant complain for under $8 shipped :)
