No. Only the 20gb, 60gb, and old 80gb can do PS2 BC. However, all PS3 SKUs can do PS1 BC.

But to the OP, YLOD is not common at all. My 20GB PS3 is running like a dream still (though it's layered with dust since it's a dust magnet and I gave up cleaning it long ago).

He mentioned Microsoft and how I am trying to slight their product (the 360 if you didn't know). All I said was the 360 is more prone to failure, something that cannot and should not be disputed because M$ is king of faulty hardware.

I'm sure he just mentioned it because the term RLOD was coined from the xbox 360. YLOD would be derived from that term. It is directly related to the 360, hence why he mentioned it. Without the xbox 360 there would never be a YLOD reference to begin with since it happens so rarely. I've never heard of the YLOD before, but immediately thought of the 360 when I read it. Be honest, you all did too.

I have a 60gb PS3, upgraded to 320gb harddrive. It works perfect, been over a year now. On the other hand, since RROD was mentioned, I had 360 prior to it and I had to replace it 5 times. After that I gave up and bought a PS3. Very happy with my decision. Good timing too, I was able to get the last batch of 60gb PS3.

+1 no need to start a fight. Clearly the OP was only worried because he had heard of RROD, and to say it's not common is a subjective term, whereas to say it's far less than RROD is a much more informative statement. The fact that people get so defensive every time says RROD speaks volumes anyways.
