If he paid the rental company's daily insurance, he should be home free.
Unless they ****ed him in the small print of the agreeement...

Rental Car Damage! Has company coverage, but what happens now?
Hi everyone,
Hope that someone can help my friend. He rented a car from a company, and bought their daily insurance for something like $20-25 per day, that has a $0 deductible. The rental guy was like, this is the best insurance.
The bumper has $300-400 damage, by reasons unknown. Some scratches and dents and stuff.
Does anyone know who pays for this? Does the insurance cover this entirely?
Thanks a lot in advance...

He will just walk away... Had this happen to me this past weekend, bought their Damage Waiver, switched Ottawa car in Toronto and I was pretty sure crack in the bumper was there when I took it. Called the Toronto branch, and asked them to look at previous contracts, and lo and behold they went: "Yes it was there before, we have it documented" I just kept banging my head against the wall for not seeing it

That sounds like a relief, thanks for all of your responses.
But does that just mean that, if you buy their insurance, you can just bang up the car as much as you want and get off scot free? Not that we want to...but just trying to understand how this insurance works.
