Rental a vehicle from canada and dropping it off in the us??
Hi, I was just wondering if you are able to rent a vehicle from Toronto and drop it off in the US? I am planning to go to Dallas, TX. Are there any rental companies that do that? if so how much would it cost?

Don't Do It... 99% Of Companies don't do it, and if you find
one that does it will cost you an arm and a leg.. Better off flying!
Trust me!

would it be better off renting it 1 or 2 weeks and returning it at the Canadian Location? If so how much would that cost?

It's called a one-way rental, there will be hefty fees.
For example a one-way from Vancouver to Seattle will run around $300 for one day.
To TX may be very hefty since they have to get the car back up to Canada somehow.

Anytime you don't bring it back to the original location, you'll
pay a drop fee...
Like I said, if you wanna rent and drive that kinda km's - Make
sure you get an unlimited package (Which allows you to leave
the province) and return it to the original location.
Example; Calgary to Vancoucer $500 drop fee..

The one way drop off fee is an extra charge on top of the regular weekly rental charge, so this could be a very expensive way to travel.
The only exception is high usage rental car routes where the drop off charge is waived by some companies. For example, no drop off fee for between:- Vancouver-Calgary
- Toronto - Montreal
- major cities in CA, AZ, NV
- major cities in FL
Between other major cities in the US, I think the drop off charge is about $500US for distances over 1,000 miles.
It's best to talk to a travel agent/operator about 1 way rentals as they can get deals (like no drop off fee) that don't show up on the official rental car web sites.
