Anybody heard of renting a laptop? What do I need to do that? Is it a good idea?

How long do you need it for?
I'd suggest either buying a cheap used laptop or if you don't have any ethical concerns about doing so, buying a new one and then returning it.

I need it for two weeks until I get a paycheck, I'm really low on funds at the moment.

Do not rent. MDG scammed so many people this way.
Just don't use a laptop if you can't afford it. Don't screw yourself with financing either. Just wait. Renting a laptop is a stupid idea IMHO.

Get a refurb laptop for under $300-$350 or get a netbook...probably $200 or cheaper. If you are too poor for either, walk away...or borrow a friend's laptop.

well, there are many options you can chose:
buy a cheap, secondhand one
get a new one with Down payment and pay like $20 a month (FS, BB and Alienwre does this.)
i dont recommend renting because your information using on that computer might be recovered event if u deleted it.

Google is your friend.
2 weeks start at $79. 1 month starts at $99.

See if you can pick up a used one for around $100 from CL or Kijiji.

Renting a Laptop. Go to the Library, don't rent. Although the Library does stink for their computer usage, I once needed to use the computer briefly to access something. I didn't realize it was a 12-step process (exaggeration), and I needed a library card, like hell I'll get one of those again, even if I'm living out of a shoe box.
