Replacing Speakers
When replacing speakers in a car, do you have to unplug the battery first? Since I'll be cutting the black and red (- & + terminals) wires and stripping them, could I get shocked if I don't unplug the battery first? Or can I do the stripping and soldering while the battery is connected?

Unless your radio is wired to operate with the ignition switch turned off, there should be be power sent to the speakers when the ignition switch is off.
In any event, turning the radio off (or any added devices like an amplifier) will cut power to the speakers. I see no need to disconnect the car battery.

I would do it just in case anything happens. It's better to be safe than sorry , I mean how long does it take to disconnect the negative terminal on the batt? Just 1 bolt takes 2 mins.

Just turn off the radio, no need to disconnect the battery. You won't get shocked because it is 12V only.

Unless you have insanely powerful speakers and pumping full volume on your amps, I wouldn't worry much about getting shocked. I would be more concerned about shorting the wires and potentially damaging something.
