so after receiving the email saying that I was going to receive a $20 Gratuitis gift, I was expecting $20 worth of coupons for candy and to my surprise today in my mailbox. A Cheque for $20 cash. So hats off to M&M's well done.

Judging from last year, the way that they do this (when there isn't a programming error) is that every 1108th pin is a winner. Last year, it was every 663rd pin, and they still only gave out a fraction of the prizes. They said the reason for that was because not enough pins were entered on the site. So this year they've lowered the odds, and they don't tell us how many prizes are being awarded. I don't see the result being any better for us, we just won't know how many prizes they give out this time. I wouldn't hold my breath for instant win prizes. I won't hold my breath for any prizes, actually.

Last year I dropped a bundle on the chocolate too. I finished #1 on the leaderboard. And.. that was it. In fact, only one of the three winners was in the top ten. So good luck! I hope all the winners are from RFD, but I'm going to try not to get too wrapped up in it this time. I hope karma sends some luck my way, but I'm not counting on it.

I don't understand why hershey doesn't make this contest a timed contest like their others: first pin entered after a predetermined time wins. That way you know exactly how many prizes will be awarded ahead of time, and your customers have some reassurance that you will actually hand them out! We know hershey can do contests, so why not this one?

They're probably too impressed with themselves by the whole elaborate animation and web pages, lol (and probably paid a programmer a ton of money to create it, so didn't want to use it for only one year).

There may be something to that . I remember when I was looking for more information about the contest last year, I found a few articles like this: http://www.digitalbuzzblog.com/mms-l...ster-egg-hunt/.

It may be a different company handling this contest for Hershey's than the other contests. Perhaps there wasn't an easy way to hook Hershey's standard time-based system for awarding prizes into the flash. Whatever. Despite what the article says I think most Hershey customers would label this flashy contest a failure. From the beginning there have been complaints that the animation slowed down or crashed computers, Hershey's had nothing but problems awarding, or not awarding prizes, etc.
