REVIEW - Filco Tenkeyless Mechanical Keyboard Cherry Brown

Stock Pic:

Likes:

Tenkeyless. Mechanical keyboard. Well built. Heavy. Cherry brown switches. Tactile feedback. Clean layout. Black keys for a modern look.

More keyboards should be tenkeyless. Saves space on the desk. Touch typing on the number row is just as fast.

Dislikes:

$121 + shipping + taxes. Paid ~$170 all in. The red esc key, useless. Prefer if the led's were not there, the placement looks off.

Score: 4 out of 5 stars

I highly recommend this keyboard.

YOU PAYED $121 ... ? I'd say you either got scammed ... or you haven't really seen the "Apple Wireless Keyboard" ... or just that you got scammed ... did I mention you got scammed ?

aww man I would probably get a diNovo keyboard instead of this man .... the dinovo one is MUCH better than this one ... this one looks like a china ripped off brand of Dell's keyboard which I am using at the moment.

OP Have you tried the TactilePro 2.0 from Matias? I had it but didn't like it, so wondering how this one compares. I'm a big fan of old school mechanical keyboards. $100+ range is normal for these types of keyboards.

touchtyping on the number row is definitely not as fast as a numpad
as an owner of dinovo edge (which is a great keyboard) i really miss a numpad for entering in lots of numerical data in excel

you should have gotten this instead http://www.daskeyboard.com/

100x sexier, especially the Ultimate version

It looks so similar as the free one that come with my Acer desktop. Then again, I assume this one if better built.

Tactile keyboards are much different than your typical $2 OEM ones....
The price is typical for one of these.

Isn't tenkeyless just a geeky fancy way of saying "sans number pad"?

Does anyone here know how to type using DVORAK? I've been meaning to try it out, but been getting abit lazy about it...

I'm kinda appalled at how so many people in my workplace can't type for beans... Some people even hunt and peck still with two or three fingers :(

Are they for real ?
Das Keyboard sports best-in-class German-engineered gold-plated mechanical key switches that provide tactile and audio feedback making typing a pure joy. Once you start typing, the tactile and audio clicks create positive reinforcing feedback. It makes typing fun and addictive

Well, I don't see anything that suggests otherwise.

How is "sans-number pad" a feature? That's a negative!

I don't buy that - that's what businesses want you to think when they give you small portions for more money.

How else am I going to input large amounts of numerical data without a keypad?

At this price, I don't see why anyone wouldn't just go for the IBM M keyboard, which is known as the best keyboard in the world.

I have. It is amazing!!!! Best keyboard ever, if you don't mind being loud.

So far, only the thinkpad keyboard have provided me an experience close to the IBM M series.

I think anyone older than 16-18 should've used one before.

In terms of keyboard feel, it's the best thing in the world. The clicky sound you get from each type is so rewarding.
