Its true i called 3 times and pressed the english option, when i got transfered to an agent they did not speak english and disconnected me. Called back a few hours later and finally got someone who spoke broken english. Overall i cant feel confident in italkbb service when its difficult to communicate with their reps. I cant imagine having to deal with thier tech staff if i had problems.

Reviews for iTalkBB (VOIP)
I am ONLY looking for 2008-current reviews for iTALKBB but if you want to make a suggestion. Please gimme your review/view first about iTALKBB then gimme your recommendation. I have checked the other forums but they're like last year and only 1-3 posts were about iTalkBB and the rest was hard to evaluate since there were all clutter with other VOIP's.
Thanks
.
Short-Story if you want to read:
My dad was telling me he got a call from some guy telling him we can get phone services for 8.99$/month (apparently it was iTalkBB). My dad told the guy to call back so i could speak with him and ask him a bunch of questions.
I had this chinese Salesperson named Micky Chau called me and was speaking to me in chinese than in broken English. He tells me that he spoke with my dad and stuff and i started to ask him some question(s).
**(broken English & chinese accent)
Micky**: "blah blah blah blah we offer you best service blah blah, no contract...etc"
Me: "is your service based on VOIP?"
Micky**: "umm... iTalkBB is the smart way to talk"
Me: "That is nice, but you still haven't answer my question"
Micky**: "you only pay EIGHT-POINT-NINE-NINE-DOLLA a month"
Me: "you still haven't answer my question"
Micky**: "Yes!"
Me: "Look it is obvious you're not going to convince me to buy anything from you. but 8.99$/month looks promising but sounds fishy. So does your company have a website I can goto?"
Micky**: "You can try our service for THREE-ZERO-DAYS for free. We'll send you a modem with deposit of SIX-ZERO-DOLLA"
Me: "Alright, umm... do you guys have a website, you know www.....?"
Micky** "www.i-t-a-l-k-b-i-.com....... smart way to talk"
Me: *Finally!!!*
It is so stupid! My dad asked to have a English rep to call back and they had Micky Chau called me instead. =(Last edited by darkprince; Jun 4th, 2008 at 11:43 AM.

italkbb reviews
Have been using their service for almost a year now.
I have not called much to their customer service (which is a good thing).
I believe its located in China, and I found the staff I spoke with fluent in English.
The adapter worked right out of the box, and the phone service has been quite reliable. The voicemail is a bit odd to setup. Very happy with the great value provided. Would recommend...CANCEL THAT !
Some of their long distance rates are 10-30 times more than other providers. I got ripped off calling Poland landline. Freephoneline.ca charges 3 cents per minute, vbuzzer 2 cents, vonage 1 cent, and italkbb charged me over 27 cents per minute !!!! I thought perhaps there was an error in it being one decimal point off...but have been advised by italkbb that there is no mistake in the rate.
Be careful who you call on italkbb ! I am not happy with their customer service response, so I'm just waiting for my contracts to expire and will be moving business elsewhere.
I have cancelled one service so far, and returned the adapter in its original box to their canadian PO box in the GTA, and it appeared to be processed ok. Be prepared for the cancellation department to call u back and try to keep u.Last edited by lydiak; Nov 19th, 2010 at 03:25 PM.

Like other VOIP, it depends on the internet traffic. It's bearly acceptable with Rogers Lite and all brokern when work with video chat.
There's a reseller at Market Village that you could deal in person.

Why not get vbuzzer? $25 a year for incoming #, plus $25 for unlimited local outgoing, so $50 a year. Pickup a ATA to ethernet adapter for $50 and you are good to go.
I do not make many outgoing calls so I just pay $25 a year for incoming # and do a pay per use for outgoing calls._______________
I workout to get big so I can pickup bricks and ****.

Terrible company and this is coming from a person that speaks their native language Cantonese. So we signed up for their promo about a month ago to try out the Canada unlimited plan $8.99 and then during the month they charged us 20$(charged us 10$ on the second week, 10$ again third week) extra because they say the first one didn't go through.
So we called them and they say it not in the system they ask us fax the visa bill(covered our visa card# obviously) so we did(had to get off the line before faxing). We call them again and they say the person we spoke with is not available Mei was the representative we were talking to at that time.
This was a ongoing dispute too we called 2 weeks ago about this and they say not in system so we postponed it until this week (dads a busy guy) so dad decided he was fed up and told them they call visa for a charge back.
They immediately got MEI to call us back and she told us the fax didn't go through and gave a us another fax number that didn't work either and tried to walk me through on how use a fax machine( i know how use one) another solution we offered send a scanned copy of the bill and she received it and i believe she did not understand how read the bill(she didn't know English) so my dad again told her what was on the bill like the 50th time and he also added the amount they charged him she got that wrong too(i then later sent another email with the billing dates circled in RED)....dad asked for the manager she refused to get him so we just hung up as it was total waste of time. We let the visa the company deal with it for us...
So please guys do not subscribe with this company unorganized bad customer service i bet there is more too...

Call quality and price is better than Primus so far
I've been a Primus customer for 2 years now. If you're with Primus, you pray to God that you never have to call customer service, they don't speak English very well.
Anyway, my cousin referred me to iTalkBB because she joined their referral program. What attracted me was the price of $8.99 a month. I'm a cheapo (I don't even have cable TV, I use an aerial antenna) so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Setting it up only took me literally 15 minutes, and I didn't have to talk to anyone. All I needed to do was to register my new voip modem's mac address and BB number on their site, then swapped the old Primus voip modem with the new iTalkBB one (they look identical so I even used the same power cable).
I also transferred my old number and was able to do all that online. It took about 15 days to complete the transfer during which time, I could be reached by another new number of my choice. I also forwarded my old Primus account to this temporary number so I didn't really fall off the grid.
After setting it up online, I already had a dial tone within 5 minutes. Immediately, I could tell the difference. The dial tone seemed to come up faster when there used to be a 1 second delay when I pickup the phone to make a call. The sound quality was better when before it used to be somewhat broken or "choppy."
As far as start up costs, I only paid $29.99 for the "setup fee" and the first $8.99. I was only charged once, so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the TECHNICAL service so far. As far as CUSTOMER service, I have no comment yet since I have not had to deal with someone over the phone yet (and i'm not looking forward to it).

Why would anyone give money to these scammers when you can use freephoneline.ca for zero point zero zero per month? $30 startup fee? You must be joking.

How do you use iTalkBB with more than one phone in the house? Do you split the phone output? Could you install this in your basement then distribute to all the different phones from there?

many majority of the population will prefer picking up a "real" telephone rather than looking at the computer screen with a virtual telephone.
also this freephoneline will be full of advertisements, thats why its free, just like many years ago when theres free dial up.

My dad showed me the ad for ITalkBB today and I have to admit the price looks pretty good. Is it true that the company isn't based in Canada? My dad is adamant about switching to them, but if what you guys say are true, then I'll have to force him not to do so.
