I have an amazing set of custom Zipp 404s built up. I think that they are worth more then any one of my bikes.....almost. All in all I think I am about $15k in with my bikes, there are much worse ways to spend my money. I figured last year I saved about $400/mo by commuting on my bike versus my 2 hours of commuting in a car(2 way). It was 4 hours on a bike, and it sucked in the rain, but it was worth it. Now I have a car again, and am in debt again, so once it warms up, I think I am going to start commuting again.Last edited by ^*^BATMAN^*^; Apr 30th, 2008 at 07:19 PM.

I'm looking to start biking again. Just picked a roof rack for my car. Any advice on buying a bike? I'm looking to buy used bikes, GIANT, Specialized, Norco, etc. I'll go getting a hardtail for sure but does it really matter the year of the bike? I found a couple bikes that are 2004-2006 are the newer bike that much better? My spending limit: $300~ (not a lot but I'm just a casual weekend rider).
