I was talking to a dealer the other day who suggested I people should have 65 percent silver and 35 percent gold. Any thoughts? I mean, I like collecting silver and its fun, but gold is so much easier to store.

Which brings me to my next question. You know how people talk about the whole 16/1 ratio of gold to silver thing. Is this a real thing. Is it really going to go back to a 16/1 ratio?
Second part of your post ties into the first for me.

I don't believe in a strict percentage like 65/35 or anything like that, but I do believe that if you are looking to purchase as a store of value, it makes sense to accumulate what is cheaper relative to the other (and maybe at times swap some). I don't think we will be seeing 16/1 in my lifetime, but it wasn't too long ago that it was closer to 50/1. Big difference from where we are now at about 70/1. Even 50/1 would put us back to $25.6 USD for Silver.

You have partly answered this question yourself. Yes gold is "easier" to store. The only thing one can be sure of is that you can never really be sure except in hindsight. Speculation, investing, wealth preservation call it whatever euphemism you like; I prefer to call it what it is, gambling. Every persons situation is different therefore each of us has different needs in terms of strategy. There are no one size fits all solutions. Some things you should consider are your age ( whether you are going to buy and hold or not and for how long) , the level of risk you are comfortable with etc. Trends can only be seen in hindsight as we only know some of variables that may affect prices in advance. There are plenty of prognosticators that will claim they have it all figured out. You can listen to what they have to say but know that these are only their opinions based on the data they have available to them. You need to make decisions based on your own current situation.

I think I know what he means. He wants to see older pandas in a sheet. I would also like to see a sheet of any pandas before 2011 because I don't believe I have seen any. I know they exist but I don't remember seeing any and would like to. I know they changed the sheet style recently so the sheets from 2012 had like 30 pandas to a sheet and in 2016 they are 15 in a sheet and the sheet is more like a tray. If anybody has any older than 2011, please post images. I would be interested to see and I am also very curious to know if they sheets have changed any other times.
I have some.

Will try to take photo today.

How much are you guys paying per oz these days?

Spot price is currently $24.30.

The cheapest silver rounds I'm seeing are $26. Cheapest maple leaf $27.50.

I've been buying collector items for $26-32.50 per ounce. I find that the collector stuff protects you when spot goes down because you still have the collector's value in it.

Eg. If the price of silver goes down by $1 tomorrow, i know i can still get what i paid for with these items. Whereas maples and rounds will depreciate and fluctuate with spot price.

I haven't done an order in a while but I wouldn't hesitate to use SGB if I was ordering today.
