Potential new gold investor here. Why does the 1 oz gold maple coins cost more than the the RCM 1 oz bars? which one is better for long term store of value?
Cos you're paying more for that laser engraving. Personally, I would pay more for that security feature. Makes it easier to resell the coin in future. ;

They sell coins for more because of potential numismatic value(not going to happen) and just because of more demand (people like the image of the Queen?).
But the truth is: when you need to sell, the value is the same. So I would buy bars instead of coins.

Might be because the coin is backed by currency via legislation. Unless you worry that you need to exchange the coin to its face value, I would stick with the one with the least premium over spot.
Face value is a joke, $50 for a 1oz gold coin!

I agree with the previous posters, especially Thalo. {And} Thalo's advice is spot on.

Just for fun, I compared buying a monster box of 2018 1oz maples from different places:

Current Ask: 18.68 CAD
18.68 * 500 = 9340

SGB Ebay: $10511.96 CAD
AMPEX: $8000 USD (~10588 CAD)
Kitco: $10745 CAD
Global Bullion Supplier: $8185 USD (~10794 CAD)
CanadianPMX: $10825 CAD
TGB: $10929.21 CAD
SGB: $11040 CAD
Colonial Acres: $11155 CAD (no quantity discount and can't even buy more than 200)

Winner: SBG ebay AND they take credit card. How do they do it?

It turns out that TGB will once again be holding their annual Panda sale. My understanding is that they will be adding the 2019 Panda pricing to their website within the next day or two and have stated that they will show up prior to Christmas. The delivery prior to Christmas is a big deal to me and I am sure others as it has become a tradition for me to give these out to nieces and nephews at Christmas.
