Are RFD Moderators paid for their role?

Just curious if mods are paid at RFD, the Yellow Pages company?

Mods are volunteers. We get some swag once or twice a year and preferential treatment when it comes to breaking some rules (just kidding), but other than that, all is done on our own time :)

Unlimited mass mailing is a good privilege but I have not seen any mod take advantage of this.

Do you happen to know how often RFD looks to take on new moderators?

I would say RFD is always looking and Tom typically reaches out to those he feels may be a good fit.

Hi
Could you give us a sense of demographics of Mod? I am sure it's a heavy time consuming job and curious who has that much time? Student?

I believe most of us are all full time working professionals.

Mods have no pay and all volunteer and they have their "mandate" of number of posts they need to moderate in a monthly or annually basis.
Admin however work for YPG and is salaried to work in their DT Toronto office unless it changed in the last 2-3 years.

I've never been given a quota. Each mod will moderate in areas they are most comfortable with. Some handle more reports than others, some stick to hot deals, some moderate via browsing the forums, and some deal specifically with referral links etc...The admins understand we are all here voluntarily and would never ask or pressure us with any kind of "mandate".
