I think its intentional. Dolan payed him to sabotage the players so they can be super garbage and knicks fans will have a "bad guy". They really wanted melo gone.

This is Phil Jackson we are talking about. He dealt with hall of famers and players with the biggest ego's. He is not stupid.
Maybe not, but sometimes people become old and senile. In any case, regardless of whether it was all intentional, or if Phil was just never actually interested in even being there in the first place, the whole tenure was just a disaster for all involved, and he was made out to look like a circus act.

It's a shame for the Madison Square Gardens and their passionate fans. Here's hoping they bring back some semblence of relativity and respect...for the fans' sake.

Knicks was a disaster even before Phil got there.

It starts from the top down. He probably just paid phil off to do his business for him. Who would say no to 60 mil?. Dolan is the kind of guy who smears players. He did that to Oakley. He also banned him.

Knick fans LOVE Oakley. Dolan is pretty pathetic.

In any case, seeing as we can't win a championship any time soon, with another superstar pairing in CP3 and James Harden, maybe Ujiri would do us one last solid and go to the Knicks and earn us a compensatory first round draft pick. Face With Tears Of Joy

lol....Phil Jackson graduated from the Isiah Thomas School of Management......

Screwed up royally and still gets paid!! ANNDDD.....good chance that Phil will get another gig with another team in a couple of years (need to let the circus act tag fade a bit - people are forgetful)....

And no doubt that Dolan was meddling or had some hand in the circus act......Knicks are so dysfunctional and the culture comes from top down!

How else does D'Antoni get run out of town.......come back a few years later and win Coach of the year!

If you were Ujiri, why the heck would you want to join a franchise with Dolan running it?
-Triple the current annual salary and more $ towards his Africa causes
-Raptors have peaked and are slowly declining with no prospects of a championship with GS all-stars assembly
-Great relationship with Tim Leiweke who is leading their GM search - can negotiate the same Dolan-proof independence in decision-making as Phil did
-Rebuilding franchise challenge, has experience dealing with and trading Melo

Ujiri gets too much credit for the raptors. He is overated. This is still Colangelo's team. Let him go.

If anything hel always be linked with the Lakers. Especially with Luke Walton and Brian Shaw as coaches, Magic and just Jeanie Buss at the top.. all of which respect Phil highly... theres no doubt hel be associated with the Lakers sooner rather than later.

Edit: For those who think we can contend for the NBA championship, just give up. There's no way we're competing, not after how stacked Houston became. Tanking for picks won't help either because these crazy trades are going to continue to happen. I'll be happy if we make the playoffs again. The NBA championship belongs to the West.

Im sure a team would take DD + other for AT LEAST a top 10. We can target Lakers. They should have a really high pick next year.

Its not impossible to get the #1 pick again. We did it before. Realistically we can get a top 8 pick and above year after year.

Too bad, I was looking forward to a boat load of Knicks draft picks.

Looks like the Wolves are major players for Lowry now since Rubio just got traded to the Jazz.

So everyone is saying the East is weak as hell... I'm not as crazy and insightful as RealGM and /r/nba but is the East really that weak now?

Can you honestly name one other team in the Eastern Conference that can actually challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 7 game playoff series?

No other teams in the Eastern Conference have a superstar player.
The Eastern conference was already weak last season. Paul George and Jimmy Butler are in the Western Conference now.

Lowry and DeRozan are all-stars that under-perform well below their season averages in the playoffs.
