Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and we need help! We're looking for the best gift ideas, places to go, things to do, ways to propose, and other neat ways to celebrate Valentine's Day. We want to hear from YOU!
After all the ideas are in, we'll pick the best of the bunch and publish them in a series of articles in our Features section.
To give you a bit of an incentive, we'll send you some RedFlagDeals.com stickers to each person that replies with at least 1 idea in 1 of the thread topics. All you have to do is send a Private Message to user 'RedFlagDeals.com' with your address and mention it's for the Valentine's Day Sticker Giveaway.
The topic for this thread is:
Places to go for a Date
We're leaving it pretty open but to make it more helpful keep in mind different budgets, what type of dating situation it would be best for (ie: first date), and if something you can only do locally please mention it when you post. Have fun!
Serious suggestions only, ends January 31st!

If you have a HUGE/Unlimted budget and want to impress, 360 at the CN Tower is the place to go. Now its not for the food, its for the rep and scenery you are going for. If your on a medium budget, wildfire restaurant on yonge and lawrence is slightly cheaper with great food IMO. For ultra low budget, Ikea often has cheap VDAY deals with a show!! Gift ideas, head over to the photoworks thread in the hot deals section and make a personalized book! Or you can get supplies and make your own.

I remember last year there was a thread in the Hot Deals about Ikea having a dinner for 2 special on V-Day for $14.99 per couple. So if you're cheap, and a true RFDer, you'll go take advantage of it! And heck, right after just go to the bedroom section, and go rock the boat on some cheap furniture!

Although, I think we'll stay home, and I'll cook a nice meal, have a bottle of nice champagne, watch a chick flick, and then get down to business

Pretty obvious one, but ask the restaurant you're booking about Valentine's Day specials. Many will have fixed price menus and as some other users suggested, Winterlicious runs until the 8th so you can pull off an early Valentine's Day dinner you can save a few bucks. Then you can surprise them again with a homemade dinner on Valentine's Day!

I like going to Old Spaghetti Factory in TO. Great ambience, good food for a reasonable price for TO.

In Calgary, it depends on what your girl/guy likes but a few romantic places are:
- Chicago Chophouse: best steaks in town, and boasts a HUGE wine list, show your girl you're sophisticated by ordering a bottle to match the food (don't worry, they will help you
)
- Towa Sushi on 17th Ave: Really nice decor, great fish and prices, but the tables can get crowded so choose wisely
- Ric's Grill: SW of the city, wonder grilled food, very nice decor and dim lights, makes for a nice candle-lit dinner
- Belgo on 8th Ave Downtown: for the more sophisticated but not snooby girl, this fusion french rest. has lots of exotic beers and drafts, tap or bottled. Some of the rarer belgian beers can be found here - enjoy a nice pint without the whole "bar" scene.

I took my girlfriend to Red Lobster last year for Valentine's day. I mean, sure it's a little expensive but not that expensive. We both had a whole lobster for dinner, a few drinks each and appetizers and WAY too full for dessert and I think it was around $110 or something for the both of us.
Try to get reservations cause we didnt' and we had to wait about 20 minutes. Don't do something that she won't remember cause then what's the point. As long as you do something that's different and memorable, that's all that will matter.
I'm taking her to winterlicious next saturday for the dinner deals so that should be good. We're also going skating at nathan phillips before that so it should be a real good evening.
Have fun whatever you plan to do!

Forget the usual places with views and sleasy waiters who expect $40 tips, and where you're supposed to grease up your hair and drive up in a Bentley. Go to somewhere unique. Go to Kaiseki Yu-Zen Hashimoto, at http://www.kaiseki.ca/ (review here) in Mississauga. It doesn't look like anything special, but that's precisely what makes it unique. Reservation only, (usually) less than 10 people, about $300 - $350 before taxes and tip for two, but guaranteed memorable experience (not just a "meal").
