RFD website-Lurkers not welcome!
1336 viewing (630 members and 706 guests)
I think with the numbers above, unless you are a member, you should have to pay to browse this site. I am not referring to those of you that are previewing for the first or second or third time. It irritates me when I see these many guests browsing this site and they cannot take the time to register, or to contribute positively to RFD. Don't be users! Register and contribute with your post and suggestions.
There is a wealth of information availlable that can be conducive to even greater success of RFD. As a community, we can accomplish more; but isn't it time all you lurkers register or get arrested for sneaking around someone else's property!

I normally check the site from work where I dont want to log in due to being on a shared PC. How many of us "so called lurkers, arent really lurkers?"

If people ae lurking then they automatically have those ads on the forum right? So RFD makes money that way. I think thats how it works right?

Back when I played Starcraft, I hated Lurkers, cuz I hated Zerg, and I'd run into them sometimes.

Feb 1st, 2006 04:03 PM #9How is that looking out for the community??? When a person clicks on an advertisement or uses a sponsored link, it creates revenue for RFD. It doesn't matter whether that person is logged in or not. If anything, the more people post on RFD, the more it costs Ryan and Derek to run the site.

Feb 1st, 2006 04:03 PM #10How can you have a bad experience with someone who isn't even logged in? They may as well be a ghost, because they don't even have an online identity.

What's the difference between a unregistered lurker and a registered user with 0 posts?

ever think people just want to look? seriously, you got issues. would you rather everyone sign up? so then there will be thousands of inactive accounts on the servers? very lame thread.

We'd prefer people to sign up, be a part of the community, and contribute deals and insight of course. But for those that don't feel inclined to, we don't want to force them to. Odds are that if they keep on lurking and reading the forums, one day a particular thread will catch their attention and they'll go and register

So you can try to stay away, but eventually, we'll getcha

Feb 1st, 2006 04:44 PM #15No, driving that busload of nuns off the highway makes you a bad person. Lurking makes you EVIL.

The lurker isn't trying to scam you via PM.
