FYI, they have updated this amount for Canadians. It's now $15/month or $150 CAD.
BUT... there is a workaround.
You can call them and the billing dept can switch you over to US Billing. Then you get charged the 10/m or 100/yr

Didn't want to hi-jack the Nest Alarm thread, so I created this one.
Got a tip from @GunnerX
You can order this direct from their website and save on taxes and no duties.
Prices are in USD on their website - still cheaper than any retailer in Canada.

I ordered mine Feb 14th and with a Monday holiday, I received mine yesterday with no issues.
No subscription required to use, but if you want home monitoring, is 10/month or 100 USD for the year
And if you have the Ring Door Bell, the monthly subscription also includes their cloud video service.
Another thing is if you move, it is easy to take the system with you.

I haven't set it up yet, but reviews seem good.
I'm really surprised you did not get dinged with duties. Did you only buy the security system? i'm wondering if I purchase flood lights and the extended security package and the total is greater than 800 bucks if I will get charged.

If BB lists the Echo Dot with a dollar value on the invoice, it can be returned, which makes the deal even better!

Thanks OP. It's what I am waiting for.

Have the doorbell pro and protect plus plan. It gives me 10% off on top of the sale price.
Purchased the 14-piece kit with final price as $296.10 USD. The CC shows $390.30 CAD was charged.

Best buy has them on sale for $240 with an echo Dot. I know its still cheaper ordering them from the states but to save $30 after conversion without an echo dot seems like it's a bit of a hassle.

Someone mentioned possible home insurance discount with the monitoring that can offset the monthly fee - I haven't called my insurance yet, but will check it out.
I was also just planning to do self monitoring - if I had a large detached with lots of valuables, I'd probably spring for paid monitoring - alas, I'm only in townhouse, nothing too interesting to take.

My concern (having a young family), is an intruder entering my home while they are present.
I know it's rare, but home invasions due occur and having a monitored alarm that can also be used to alert authorities is well worth $100 a year.
