I just don't understand this. No matter when you come to Montreal there always contructions everywhere, and never finishs. The road beside my apartment got opened up few times. Can't the city just make a nice plan and spend a big money fix those damn roads once and stop?!![]()

Road construction and re-construction in Montreal never stop! Why?!

It's the Qc engineers...planned obsolescence. The roads break down so the workers stay off UI.

Very much like Toronto. Some days I feel like I have smoother roads to drive on in winters.

Paving companies do half ***** jobs so that they're contracted to do it again in a few years. If they do too good a job, they lose future business. The end.

Welcome to Montreal. Only thing more crooked here than construction workers/contractors are politicians (and their slutty biker chick girlfriends). There are two seasons, snow and construction.
Good thing is all these people take off on vacation the 4th week of July and the city becomes deserted. You finally get some peace and quiet.

Speaking of the Highway 20 and 40 of Montreal, I would say they suck. 40 west isn't bad but the east part is a nightmare. Highway 20 almost has no shoulder all the way through, and patches after patches. Highway 13 and 15 are too narrow for the daily-based heavy traffic, they jam all the time. The city does road construction everyday but what did they do??

The only construction that happens in Toronto is to demolish roads (see: Gardiner) or shrink them (see: St. Clair streetcar lane). Toronto is controlled by people who believe we should all be taking their public transit, so they see no point in providing infrastructure for anything else...
