Rock climbing in Toronto
Anyone here go rock climbing in Toronto?
I went recently to the new Rock Oasis. I believe it's actually a temporary location and wasn't too good - but as I am quite, QUITE new.. it was still fun and a challenge.
I think there is a Joe Rockhead in liberty village, though I've never been or heard of anyone who has.
Any recommendations from anyone here who may do it a little more often?
One thing I liked about Rock Oasis was that they did a ~45 minutes lesson and then you could just climb the rest of the day (I think?) for free as part of it

True North Rock Climbing
I think True North rock climbing has the best facility in the Toronto area, however they're down by Yorkdale mall which may be out of the way if you're just looking in the downtown area. "With over 14,000 square feet of climbing terrain, including the largest fully-suspended artificial stalactite in North America and a huge top-out bouldering area, True North Climbing is a state-of-the-art indoor rock climbing facility. Built in what used to be an airplane hangar, the gym features ceilings of up to 36 feet, with abundant natural light coming in from windows in the high space." The pic below doesn't do it justice, but it's very well lit unlike other facilities (see link below). It's also very spacious and very clean which is a huge plus.
They also offer the same rate as Rock Oasis with a $35 dollar beginner's lesson with day pass. I would rank True North > Joe Rockhead > Rock Oasis (old location). I haven't seen Rock Oasis' new location but given the pics on their website it doesn't make me want to leave True North lol. You can be the judge:
