can anyone comment if it is worth $90 more to go on the 'glacier dome' experience?
are the views not as good on the coast classic (for picture taking, etc.)

On a gorgeous day, it is an absolute delight and at that price a true bargain.
I had good pictures from positions at very back (nice shots when returning before Horeshoe Bay...) and otherwise from the side doors.
Cheers

I have taking it last Sept. I was in Coast Classic. It like coach class in airlines. With a cold sandwich bun and fruit.
I think the dome you get a hot meal.
There is a open air car too.
The trip take about 3 hours each way.
You get maybe 2 hours in Whistler if you don't stay the nite in a hotel.

So it isn't worth the $90 to upgrade eh?
If you're only going with two people, does that mean that 2 random people will be sitting across from you (facing you?)
Or is it like sitting on a bus/plane where everyone's back is towards you?
This question is for either classic or glacier dome cars.

My wife and I did the trip - Glacier Dome one-way and Coast Classic return to save money. It was nice on way up in the Glacier Dome. We got a hot breakfast and you get wine and beer - which was kinda weird cause I don't often have red wine with my omelette. I also get the sense that it was unlimited because the guy kept asking if I wanted another one, so if you think you can drink more than $90 worth of beer then it is definitely worth it. The seats are more comfortable too.
Viewing-wise is no big deal. It's not really a "dome". The windows are bigger, and the top corners of the car were see-through, so it's sorta like a dome. I did most of my viewing in the "open-air" car between the two sections anyways.

So you are looking at $109 to WHistler and back on coach if you can get four people and $199 if you go for the dome. It does sound nice to take the train up to Whistler from Vancouver and enjoy the view, but the tickets regardless of the sale are still PRICEY for roughly a 250km ride.

'So you are looking at $109 to WHistler and back on coach'
By coach, I thought you meant the bus. Sorry.
