Rogers 4250 HD Cable Box: $149.99 @ BB, FS.
Hey all,
I've seen a few topics lately about purchasing an HD TV and being able to buy a Rogers 4250 HD box for $99.99. Well I noticed this morning on the Best Buy website that the price had gone down to $149.99, with no HDTV purchase necessary. See here . There wasn't any stock listed in my area however, so I checked Future Shop website, but the price was still at 249.99.
I was going to Future Shop this afternoon anyways to pick up a few of the 2.99 USB memory sticks.. so I figured what the heck, I'd try a price match. As soon as I got to the counter with the 4250 and asked about their price match policy, the person who rang me in said "oh yea, it's 149". He made it sound like that was the FS price too, and I didn't really notice if he had to do a price override. I was actually a bit disappointed not to get the extra 10% of the difference, but still a pretty good deal I figured.
Anyways I hope that helps for anybody who is in the market for one, but isn't purchasing a new TV anytime soon.
Update: It looks like Sears is selling them at this price too.

Thanks,
My parents bought this at the rogers dealer for about $199+tax (about $225) so I told them to return it and go buy it at FS. BB is sold out near us.
Hopefully, they refund it.

Is it worth it to get this box if you only have basic cable or do you need to pay for one of the higher end cable plans to really take advantage of it?

Thanks_______________

Also look into calling Rogers for a free 12 month credit of the HD Box rental.
Just give them a call, theres a thread about that, you may even get a PVR.
Unless you have a 2nd TV. Also theres a store that will order them at $99, its a Chinese store, 1 month wait. Got mine there without a sale. Forgot the name, i'll edit the post with it as soon as i find the receipt.

Great deal if you already have a HD TV or missed the boxing day deal. I bought an extra one (4250) if anyone wants it at cost, before I return........stock is hit and miss, but my buddy decided on not keeping it. PM me and might be able to deliver if you're close.
cheers,

maybe off topic
This might be a little off topic, but consider Over the Air HD instead of feeding the Rogers monster.
I bought a $55.00 stick that had a crappy little antenna. Plugged it into my PC and without even trying I had a bunch of HD channels. Now, with a bit of fiddling and fine tuning, I receive Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC, CTV, CBC, PBS, Global, E! and a few other stations.
The big network stations come in very clear except ABC. ABC is currently upgrading thier buffalo antenna. The broadcasts are from 720i to 1080i, stereo sound etc.
So for minimal start up cost, I have 15 Free HD channels.
Besides, after Rogers sent me the letter saying they were jacking up my rates, I figure they don't really want me as a customer!
