rogers or bell / should I avoid 3web ?
I already own a router and a modem(compatible with rogers),
whose service should I choose for internet ?
I saw people complaining about 3web / rogers/ bell a lot, dont know what to do, but since I am a student, I need something cheap.
Also, my gf needs Skype to work, so I guess I need voip to work. This rules 3web out, since they do not allow to use voip with their internet, right ?

3 web is alright but remember if you need to cancel or need to add something on, their customer service would be very difficult to reach for... plus some services may not work with them since its not their fault, its their primary provider rogers...
you should check with company are ok by going here...it shows all internet company's feedback on every city across canada.
http://www.canadianisp.com
I am not the sponsor of it..just trying to help...
I dont use bell or rogers in ontario because they do have a secret cap that does not mentioned on downloading, voiping, gamings, internet TV...since most of my friends using rogers or bell but encounter very slow download and connection speed only for those things but net surfings are ok...

3web is great once you get it setup...
My problem was getting them here to install it. While I was in Edmonton, I tried to get transferred from Shaw to 3web, went 1 week without internet and many many calls to 3web to get it fixed without any help, and finally went back to Shaw.
I moved to Toronto, and setup two different appointments for an install and they didn't show for either. At that point, I just went with Rogers...
My friend in Edmonton has had 3web for quite a while and only had difficulty while getting them to transfer his service. Once it was up and running, he's had no problems.
I'm currently with Bell here in TO, and just got $25 for the first 6 months and $30 for the next 6 months without a contract for 5meg service since I tried to cancel

yeah i agree with 3web have bad service but for the price you can't go wrong
the bad service actually cuz by Rogers cuz anytime you request for the installation then they will transfer the request to Rogers (since everything is Rogers) and the Rogers tech will come to your house.
I order 3Web but the tech didn't show up on the date...
i call back 3web and they don't know what is going on and they said will contact Rogers checking this again
i then call Rogers and try to see if i can get Rogers but when i talked to Rogers rep i found out the tech will come and check on my cable the next day(while 3web doesn't know anything about this)
so i guess part of this problem is 3web just sign contract with Rogers and resell their service but everything they have to rely on Rogers
when you need Tech, you call 3web ...then 3web have to call Rogers to transfer this request (since 3web is there competitor they might don't care about 3web customer)
and 3web have nothing to do with this or nothing to care cuz they only need to sell the Rogers Service
but if you get 3web and if have question try to call Rogers
and plus i don't know for some reason i have full Cable TV as well (and i didn't order cable TV )

forget about the price
since you only pay $9 for 1st 3 months and after 29.95 after 1st 3 months
while Rogers samething in Rogers selling at $44.95
almost 50% different in price
even with bad customer service but for the price you save
$15 a month for 1 year = $180+ tax
worth the price
but if anyone decide to go with Rogers just remember to call their retention line and asked for price match with 3web
u might get $24.95 for 6 months

I switched away from Rogers to 3web for 1 year already. Most problems are with initial setup via 3 parties like Rogers. Longer term, its much better than Rogers, Bell.

3web's service sucks, but if you're good at looking around internet for your own answers, youll be fine.
for what its worth, ive been using 3web for the last few years. no problems.

I've switched over to 3web for quite a while now. Not a problem. After the initial setup issues, its been quite smooth. Glad I switched over, Rogers keep jacking up their prices. Them taking off the newgroup was the last straw.

I signed up with 3web out here in Vancouver. They suck monkey balls for customer service. If you do sign up, check your bill, they overcharged me on my 4th month. Tried for several weeks to get through to their billing department, nada.

How did you get the first 3 months for $9?
And what is this software kit you have to buy for?
Can the modem they provide be plugged into a router?
Thanks,
Shawn
