Here is the summary of my negotiations

OOTP
1) Ignite StarterTV (4 Boxes), Gigabit internet, and Home Phone (7 features) + international Plus (because i need it) = $89.99 + Tax
2) Same as above but with Ignite PopularTV = $114.99 + tax

Facebook
1) Offered same ignite StarterTV bundle as above but with just 1 box for same price of $89.99.

All are not price protected and would be subject to rate changes. I will probably end up going with Popular.

I initiated a cancellation with Rogers a week or so ago effective March 1st, was hoping for a decent deal on an internet-only plan. Tried the FB chat and was offered Ignite 500 at $49.99 + tax. I probably could've held out and gotten either faster speed at the same price or the same speed at a lower price but I'm fairly pleased I was able to knock $50+ off my bill

Well, no luck. Did the Facebook chat. Wow, it’s super slow this way. Started the chat at 5pm and it’s now past 9pm and not quite done. First girl left and second one took over the conversation. The offer was worse than the live chat. 500u for $59.99 + tax and 1Gb for $62.99 + tax instead of the $62.14 all in offer from retentions for 1 Gb. I told them I was offered cheaper previously and they Looked again and found the promo. As there’s no contract, I locked in now and can always cancel later. I’m worn down from the chat. Not too many sales on internet at the moment. 3rd party sellers want activation fee and $50 for 150mbps. So it’s $54.99 +tax. So jealous of the ones getting the cheaper price.

Are those deals for a new construction home in Ontario? That’s what the sales guy on the phone was telling me. I’m currently on a Rogers TV/Internet/Phone bundle and it’s hard to get any movement on the prices.

Why is it so expensive and hard to get basic internet and TV in 2020?!?

No wonder everyone is going to illegal IPTV.

Both Bell and Rogers have a basic Starter TV package for $24.99 which mostly has local channels. "Basic" internet and TV mean different things to different people.

24.99 - Even better then that, it's also a regulated price so no annual price increase.

Typo! You are right, it is mandated by the CRTC. They should do one for an unlimited internet package.

Nope. It is my yearly dance with Rogers. You just have to go through a few escalations with Rogers rep. Probably an hour or two worth of work. The facebook chat was pretty quick. Told them bell was offering $89.99 (do a bit of research of bell's current offering because they will ask what tv package). They were able to quickly offer me the same. The OOTP took me about an hour and a half over the phone. Called Rogers and told them bell was offering 89.99. Always expect first rep to offer you trash. Just tell them you want to speak to a manager/management office. Management office will offer you better. At this point you decide whether you are satisfied with the offer but you can always take it one step further and ask if there is 'anyone above them that might be able to help'... some reps will say OOTP (office of the president).. At which point you act stupid and tell them sure.... if they say no, just tell them to forward you along to OOTP. OOTP will reach out to you in two business days to discuss what you are looking for. I find knowing what the current offers are from competitors make it easier to negotiate as you aren't making absurd price expectations up.

Good point.

I mean 75 or 100 MBs internet and the 25$ cable.

But since I'm with fido, (a reseller of Rogers) o can't even buy there basic starter tv.

You can't distribute content over different providers. Which is stupid.

Like buying a car at GMC, then only being allowed to buy their insurance...

Was on 1GIG, Digital Premier TV, phone for 125 tax in per month.

Bell was @ my condo and chatted with a live agent @ Rogers and was offered this:
Ignite TV Gigabit + Premier TV + Ignite Home Phone $184.99 save $60 off for 12 months + waiving the cost of the second Ignite Tv box for 12 months (regular price $8) = $124.99 (w/ tax $141.24) , 12 months, no term, and waiving the installation costs ($149.99 plus tax). The Home phone comes with unlimited Canada wide calling and 7 calling features.

Is this any good?

I think thats decent. I am pretty sure they can add on home phone for that price too if you care. I was offered Popular TV, Gigabit, and Home phone with 7-8 features for $114.99 + tax
