Currently have TV with Rogers, phone/internet with Bell.
Trying to negotiate 3-bundle service with either Bell or Rogers.
Rogers phone rep (so-called 'personal concierge') best offer today was:
--500u internet w modem (I think 350GB downloads)
--1 HD box (I have a paid-for PVR)
--Popular TV package plus MovieNetwork/Hbo + timeshift + AlJazeera
--Home phone Canada-wide calling with 3 features
Monthly cost $175, incl. tax, but upcoming price increase(s) will be extra. 12-mos offer.
Rep says no other fees, but did not send an email with this quote in writing, but did give me conf.# for offer
Somewhat similar Bell Fibe 25 bundled offer would be about $160 incl tax, but looks like their PVR is only free if you stay 60 months, otherwise $20 per month, maybe retroactively on cancellation.
What do you (especially zaidyboy) think?

Was curious - When it came to offers made prior to cancellation, was it strictly one way, or did you make suggestions back to them as to an 'offer' that you would consider to be acceptable/ remain for?
Well actually I told them that I wanted to stay at a $60 montly internet plan, and asked them what do they have for $60 with unlimited bandwidth first; because they asked me why I wanted to leave - then the retention guy said that unfortunately their 75Mbps offer for $60 deal was with 300 or 400GB download limit, and their only offer with "unlimited" download was the 150u that they proposed me at a $79.99 "deal" - for comparison, Teksavvy has the 150 download / unlimited for $68.95. But I saw this week that Rogers came with a 500u offer at $74.99 with unlimited download, which wasn't there at the time I called to cancel.

That's why I suspect I called to raise my concerns on a period where they were on transition.

Anyways, I already bought my modem with Teksavvy now and paid 1 month upfront so if I ever come back that will be in a few months...

Try facebook chat to land a deal.
Yup, I didn't know that their Facebook chat was that efficient... next time then, but thanks for the suggestion ! :-)

As a comparison standpoint, for now with me Teksavvy was very reactive by e-mail, live chat, twitter and Facebook as well ! I like the diversity of their communications channel ...

That doesn't really say a lot for 'retention'. You had made an offer that I would think should have been doable within the agent's abilities: The 150u offer at 79.99 with a $15 monthly re-occuring credit would have taken it to $64.99, less then the expected teksavvy pricing (68.95)

Ish ... for 150Mbps unlimited at $64.99 I would have stayed ... but as soon as I declined the 150u at $79.99 he said "so when you want to be disconnected ?" - I replied with the date, and the discussion stayed there, he didn't offer me less than this $79.99 for any speed with "unlimited" (because at the end of the day, I don't really care much about the speed, as I told them, I'm more interested with the unlimited download thingy) ...

Here's what they said about the 150u :
"I can also assure you that with our Internet services and pricing, they are very competitive and have our Ignite 150 unlimited internet services starting from a promotional price of $79.99 + taxes should you change your mind."

Wow - That's a poor agent not even trying.
