I've contacted them in the past about similar thing and even mentioned it on live chat. They don't exactly care. The people on social media or live chat aren't the ones setting prices.shahrukhan60 wrote: ↑ I was googling if anybody else had complained about the current policies of Rogers and came across this tweet. I think the idea of this tweet was not to get Rogers' attention, but to try and get the attention of Ford's team that runs his Twitter. Which is why I am fully behind it. As you can see from the subsequent replies, the person refused to directly engage with Rogers' twitter guy, and asked for a larger policy change within Rogers.

Not sure if they'll reply through a tweet though. If someone submits something higher up, maybe email it to them instead? Would what Rogers is doing be considered price gouging? Charging customers more money and not allowing them options to change to cheaper services, but those cheaper services are available to new customers?shahrukhan60 wrote: ↑ I think the idea of this tweet was not to get Rogers' attention, but to try and get the attention of Ford's team that runs his Twitter. Or could Rogers just be like "These were promo prices, we're simply not offering it anymore and are now charging regular price". That's what I find many places like food or grocery stores are doing. Its strange seeing certain things costing so much, but technically it's ok since they're not raising prices, simply just not giving promos/sales.
Although the "You're not allowed to upgrade right now and if you want to keep your current services, you must pay more" stuff is the real issue here.
I said it before on here, it's nice to save 10%+ off your current plan and all, but in times like this, people would settle for paying their same price until better alternatives are available. Shouldn't be pressuring/rushing people into making a decision due to contracted dates.

An update: I received a "What can we do to change your mind?" email a day after putting in the cancellation for July 6th. The fella that spoke to me first offered 300 Mbps for $64.99. I declined and mentioned that the loyalty offer I got was better (500 Mbps for $59.99). He looked into it some more and came back with 500 Mbps for $49.99 which I accepted. The price is good for 1 year and on the plus side, I can finally see my internet usage under MyRogers account. I wasn't able to do that before because of an issue on their end.31337hacker wrote: ↑ I'm hoping to get a similar offer. Either that or 500u for $49.99. I just set a cancellation date for July 6th with a Live Chat rep.
I was originally hoping to get the $49.99 Gigabit offer. They offered me 500u for $59.99 again. I paid $37.99 for a year and I don't want to pay nearly double that for another year.
If you want 500 Mbps for $49.99, then call in to cancel and set the date for 1 week ahead. Then call the number they give you in the email and decline the 300 Mbps/$64.99 offer.

Another data point. We live in a condo where Bell is available. Currently paying $37 tax in for 500M. Called in and was offered $62 tax in. It's 2/3 more but there is little options available now.
I got a mailer from Bell offering 300M for $50 with a $60 activation. This is exactly $62 after tax. I will not go to Bell if they pay me.
We also have a flyer from CIKtel offering 300M for around $47 and 500M for $53. I am not going to switch to them for $10 less giving their reputation.
There is also CarryTel offering 150M for $55 plus tax which is $62.
So Rogers' offer is pretty good giving the current situation. There is no contract so I can switch anytime.
To put things into context. I paid $33 for 500M in 2018, $37 in 2019/2020. Back in 2017/2016, I was paying $67/73 for Hybrid 60.
I will probably cancel and try to squeeze $5-10 more from Winback.

The more likes won't make it more visible in a feed because I'm sure there's hundreds of more recent posts in the timeline now.DrDoomsday wrote: ↑ This Twitter post still hasn't got RFD'ed. Still only 7 likes on it.
Best bet is getting the attention of one of the many reporters who ask questions every day at these media conferences and hope they ask them directly.

So new customer promotions are non existent? The prices are insanely high, I guess I shouldn't be surprised with what they're doing

That's correct. Nothing for new and existing customers so far even if the latter threatens to cancel. Although there have been some few exceptions here and there; majority of them are 'nope'.
Here's hoping that after the first week of July we'll see if something new is being offered, as I've been told by reps the promos change on a monthly basis.

I hope so, I'm moving in a couple of weeks and I can't bring Bhell services over so I need a good deal. Fortunately there are no cancellation fees so if something comes up after I can cancel and sign up through my wife's namesecretalcoholic wrote: ↑ That's correct. You can always try and see if the smaller ISPs like Teksavvy serve your new place. They rent the same line from Robbers.
Unfortunately for me my place is served only by Robbers and Bell and no one else

TPIAs aren't restricted from using their lines.

Maybe check with building management?secretalcoholic wrote: ↑ No freaking clue. Checked every provider I know and they say services not available in my area. Building is only like 2 years old though.
Considering you're in a building complex, you may also have access to companies offering gigabit speeds via fiber.

Yes, you may have exclusivity to use Rogers only since they did the wiring across the building. Your condo board made that decision early on.secretalcoholic wrote: ↑ No freaking clue. My current promo (500U for $29.99) is expiring so I reached out on live chat through their web site and was offered 500u for $49.99. I went ahead and took it in the interim and will keep checking back for new promos. Robbers are not being flexible at all, but some promos do appear to be coming back.
