[Rogers] Roger's Cable Retentions & New Customers Deal Thread! (June 2016)

Hi everyone,

I used to call Rogers every year to renegotiate my cable internet discounts, and I am happy to say that that is all over. As of this month, I have switched over to Start Communications - www.start.ca

I could not be more impressed with these guys - AMAZING customer service and fantastic ISP.

For $40 a month (no stupid haggling) I get 24/2 cable internet (which, after numerous speed tests is more like 45/2), 150gb a month of bandwidth, unlimited usage during 2am-8am (I did 65gb this morning) and unlimited upload bandwidth always.

I am NEVER looking back to Rogers - Start is amazing. I no longer need to worry about discounts disappearing, $hitty customer service, going over my bandwidth caps, etc. etc. etc.

If anyone is on the fence about leaving Rogers, do not hesitate like I did - leave NOW - send them a message, whether it's Teksavvy, or Start, or VMedia, take your business elsewhere!

Did you have internet previously or new customer?
I am an existing customer who had 50% off promo until end of June. I called in to renew the 50% offer. But Rogers CSR or retention wouldn't do it and offered me 25% off. But I turned down their offer and put in a cancellation request.

Later called the Win back number in the previous page and got this offer

Is it possible to just call the Winback # and ask for the deep discounts? Or should I first cancel and give 30 days notice and then call the Winback # right after I cancel, from a couple of posts back?

I don't want to wait for them to call me...
I think you have to put in a cancellation request before you can call the win back #.

At least that's what I did and got 50% off on monthly charges + modem rental waived for 1 yr + $15 gift card

You just have to say you got a card in mail asking to call the win back #

Renewed for 12 months via the winback system:

50% off internets for 12 months, free modem rental
30% off cable for 12 months, offered free pvr (already have a few of those, so no need)
$15 gift card

When I called retentions, I was offered nothing at all even close to this. Winback FTW

The best way forward is to submit your 30 days notice, and go through winback. Retentions is useless.

How long did it take to receive your winback call/email/letter in mail?

I am planning on just calling the winback number...I have cancelled this afternoon.

I didn't wait to receive anything, I called the winback number about 30 seconds after I got off the phone with retentions.

I fully expect they will start to use this model with wireless retentions. Gimping retentions and leaving it to winback seems like their best way of calling bluffs. Too bad it's not working out for them :D

I'm not going to go searching for it right now, but if anyone does, maybe add it as a tag to the thread.

I only have cable with them right now.

I wonder if they'd be willing to setup a NEW internet acct with a 50% discount & NEW home phone via win-back?

you probably could. Just cancel saying bell is offering XYZ package with all three services. The winback people have the ability to modify all services.

I would think so...you'd be baiting them with the chance not just to keep you but to sign you up for new business at the same time.

Looks like the webpage is gone but someone said the promo was until June 30th.

Has anyone gotten a discount for the Rogers Ultimate 150mbps? The most they could offer was 15% which isn't much at all.

Banning proper use in a forum such as this simply perpetuates the problem by reinforcing the perspective that all uses of a word are negative.

She must be better than all of us real men, at any cost. Feel like talking down to people who don't fit in her narrow-minded demographic? She's got it in spades.
