Extreme is supposedly going from 10 to 13 as well.
Whoop-de-doo. I need more cap, not more speed.

Rogers Increases Internet Speed
I got a notice in my browser saying my 'Express' Tier Internet service is moving from 7 Mbps to 10 Mbps at no additional cost starting June 5th... I searched online and found a little blurb news article, however, the article says May 29th, the notice I got in my browser says June 5th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rogers Cable Communications today announced that it is boosting the download speed of its two most popular Internet services, effective immediately. Rogers Hi-Speed Internet Express will increase from 7 Mbps to 10 Mbps, and Rogers Hi-Speed Internet Lite will increase from 1 Mbps to 3 Mbps. The service enhancements are being introduced at no extra charge to residential customers and are expected to be in place by May 29.

I agree with JAC 100%
60 gig cap prevents you from truly using that speed to its potential.
I also need consistency in speed. Seems to drop off sharply during evenings and weekends.

Rogers is pure evil. They're trying to compensate us after cutting out other features.

No, Rogers does not compensate for anything. The only reason why we're getting this upgrade is because Bell now has a 10Mbps internet plan in the $45 range so Rogers can't lag behind with 7Mbps only. If customers benefit accidentally, good for us. But believe me, Rogers didn't do it with the INTENTION of us benefiting.
Here's Bell Max 10 service. It's 10Mbps down, 1Mbps up with 100GB cap. It's a much nicer service but the $43/month price is just temporary. Then it goes to $53/month.

I will now be able to reach my cap in 13hrs and 20mins versus 19hrs and 2mins.
Still doesn't help me - they've overloaded my area now so during peak times I max out at 400kB/s. I'd rather a bump to 100GB cap then more speed.

I guess my area is good and the node isn't overloaded (close to Newkirk
). My speeds never drop off and I always go over max anyway. It's a shame my area has old lines and cannot get dsl though.

Rogers has nothing to fear from bell in my area, as the entire subdivision( which is only 20 years old) is limited to less than 1Mbit down due to old cables.. my lines were tested to be good at 670Kbit, and Bell does not seem to want to update the lines anytime soon.. I am sure the same holds true for many areas

So what changes with the existing 10Mbit service.. will it get boosted to 13Mbit, or more?_______________

Yup, same for my area, but my area is even older (40 yr old?)
Doesn't seem so yet... Link
Anyway, off to reboot my modem to see if I got the speed bump
