Rogers Internet going over limit 50 dollar cap
Why was I told that I wouldn't be getting charged more than 50 dollars a month for going over, but instead I'm getting billed per GB I went over, and with no cap?
Apparently my bill is over 400 dollars extra on top due to me going over my usage limit, but it says on the plans that there is a 50 dollar limit. What the hell. They are telling me that 'conditions may apply' to going over the 50 dollar limit, but I can't find any of these 'conditions' in any of the information online.
I find this totally bogus. Am I stuck paying this? What can I say to them to get them to honour what I was told on the phone. I was told that I would be charged a maximum of 50 for going over my download limit, not be billed non stop for every GB over.

If you are running a file sharing server, well then you are screwed.
Other than that, I don't feel bad for you. You are what I call an internet hog, you don't need to download every little thing you find on the internet

The max is $50. The real overage charges appear when you check your account online, but once you received your bill it is adjusted to reflect the $50.

What plan are you on?
I haven't been on Rogers for a couple years but I distinctly remember reading that certain "grandfathered" plans had NO maximum overage cap and it was $2.50/GB.
I quickly googled it. This is what i found:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/rogers?text=1
Scroll down a bit to "Does Rogers have a bit cap" or simply Ctrl+F and type "no maximum charge" to take you directly to where it talks about it.
If this doesn't apply to you, than I don't know why you were charged so much, but if it says there is a maximum charge of $50 and you were charged over that amount, you should definitely dispute it.

Trolls only make one post.. Who goes on a forum and makes a thread about a concern they have and not check up on It by checking the thread at another time to see If there are replies.
Also the clear maximum of his overage fees are $50 MAX.
I'll apologize If he comes back and makes a response LOL.

I don't get why people hate on those who download a lot. I go over my limit EVERY month.. if Rogers ever tried charging me more than the $50, i'd cancel their services right away, and go with someone else.

Because they've constantly been told from Bell/Rogers (Mostly Bell) over the past year or two that if you use more than 40GB a month you are an internet hog who is some how using up all the internet tubez and are affecting other "normal" (
) internet users experience.
They fall for it hook, line and sinker because good old Bell would never lie to them to earn a buck.
There are so many ways to go over such a small cap that I have to laugh at this guy who is 99.95% certain that some stranger on the internet that he's never met before in his life just MUST be pirating to go over his cap.
Makes me sick, really. People who take the side of big businesses like Bell/Rogers when they are the customer. This mentality just allows these guys to keep doing what they are doing every year. Higher pricing with the same mediocre service.

Why not switch ISP to like Teksavvy? Teksavvy package has unlimited bandwidth! Pretty sure It's not more then the $100+ including overage fees you're paying..
