How Edge Financing works
1: Get any smartphone, tablet and smartwatch1 for $0 down, 0% interest, with Edge Financing.
2: Add it to your Rogers InfiniteTM plan.
3: Pay your device off in equal installments over your 24 or 36-month term. To make your payments easier, Edge Financing comes with pre-authorized credit and pre-authorized debit payments.

Example:
Retail price: $800
Pay $33.33/mo for 24 months
OR
Pay $22.22/mo for 36 months

So this is how they get back into 3-year contracts.

They can use this to get around those of us who have a 30% discount. Right now with a Ultra Plan, my 30% applies to the phone plan and phone tab because it's combined together. If they put financing as seperate, then the 30% only applies to the infinite plan.

Trash. At least Koodo and Freedom take a hit on the phone to make it worth going on a 2 year vs buyout
Koodo, Fido, Telus, Public Mobile, Virgin customer.

Are you getting the 30% off on top of the corporate discount? I was told that mines won't be transferrable because Infinite plans are not eligible for any type of discount.

All that 3 yeasr protest for nothing.

CRTC sure loves 3 years term for these companies. (more ARPU for them)
Cellphones: Rogers, Telus, Koodo, Freedom, Public Mobile Special Deals

Shaw Internet 300 = $50/month + $250 credits
Telus Internet 150 = $55/months + $400 credits + Pik tv

Got to hand it to Rogers, they certainly are able to find ways to screw their customers. So no longer do you get an embedded phone subsidy, just full price for plan and full price for smartphone. But, people will bite, they always do.

BTW: Certainly doesn't belong in the *hot* section. If they were giving you a 30% discount off of the phone and paying it off at that discounted rate over 2-3 years, then that's hot. You're saving a little bit of money on interest charges -- though many in-house options are other stores (Like Home Depot) already do 18 months 0%. So really no shirt off of Rogers back, more like a Starbucks Grande Regular loss.

So there is no point in signing a contract as there is no device subsidy.
I may as well go with PM for the loyalty/referral/autopay discount or Koodo for phone's activation credit when available.
Fido $40 5GB small + $15 4GB tablet data
PM $20 province wide talk
PM $10 50 min 50 txt

Thanks OP but bring your own device plans starting at $75 / per month for 10GB of data and unlimited Canada-wide calling! Might be interesting to some people. I'm on WiFi a lot of the time. Paying $36/ month for 4GB of data, unlimited Canada-wide calling and unlimited international texts more than meets my needs for a lot less money.

I agree with saint2e,,,Rogers has found a way to hook people for three years.

Yup. Ridiculous. As soon as my term is up, I'm gonna buy my next phone outright and use a provider like Freedom I think.

Free 0% financing as long as you lock into a 3 year agreement at an insane monthly fee. It's a glorified $25 off coupon. I feel bad for the stupid people who fall for these marketing ploys.
