I know exactly what you mean, BBV around these areas just plain suck.. I go to school in Waterloo and the selection there is better. Not great, but better. Too bad I'm on coop this winter term.. so no more quality trading like last month.

Though I went to the BBV across markville today and they still had the advertisement B2G1 on. Dunno if it's still on, or they're just lazy to take it off

They wised up big time with the T2/3 eligible titles, but it's only natural. It's the beginning of a new year and a lot of those will soon be cheap-o's. Heck, Tekken 6 just came out and is already on the downward spiral. With all the new releases coming out this quarter, I'm sure RP would like some space on their walls to PV some of the Aug.- Dec. games, so axe the Bournes, C and C's and DMC's.

TIV dropped f/ $40 -> ~$8 overnight after the initiation of the 2/$40 deal (29th Dec.)

so it's no surprise it's no longer a most-wanted title

really? for stock at BBV? that mccowan and buroak one actually had a lot of stock of somewhat newer games.. but nothing like AC2 or MW2... damn if it ended (the buy 2 get 1 free) ill be mad as i was planning to go tomorrow and utilize it!

Does anyone think that Rogers will have an issue with using the current "2 used games for $40" promo to get 2 games from the T2G1F deal for Mass Effect 2? Seems like a good way to get Mass Effect 2 for $39.99 provided they don't claim that we're combining two promos...

You can combine them but its 2 transactions and the T2 cannot be done (at least most reps won't do it) until the game is actually released, which means you need to hold on to the games till the end of the month when ME2 comes out. You can put $5 down to reserve the game (which you get back during TI). Also note possible deductions on used games that you buy.

I have NFS Shift but it is missing the manual. Does anyone know if Rogers will allow me to trade it in for the T2 Mass Effect 2 deal?

-10% for missing manual and another 5% if the disc isn't mint condition. For T2, the game will be bumped up to 34.99 (or basically 35) so you will be deducted 3.50 (or 5.25 if it isn't mint) for NFS: Shift.

It dropped on Dec. 30 along with all titles that were most wanted for Dec. (AC2, MW2, ODST, R&C2, etc). Most likely due to abuse of trade in of these titles during the 29th. Also a lot of accounts were made inactive (if you did multiple 2/40) but they are all active now.

Only games that survived the Dec. 30 drop (that i know of):

NHL 2k10 (Wii) - 35 (now 10.75)
Heroes: OE (PS3/360) - 26.50 (still valid as of yesterday)

Not really. T2 will be a tough one this month. Only one I can think of is Resi 5, which I'll probably use. It should be fairly cheap (seen it for $25, when coupled with a promotion maybe less) and probably will see a sale soon with the release of the Gold edition coming quickly. Basically pick the oldest titles from that list and hope they see price cuts or sales. Everything else is really new and even if it was obtained cheaply (sale, RP 2 for 40) it's still a rip off.

Best bet for those who really want Mass Effect is to try Microplay (slim chance, but worth a shot) or EB. FS/BB are likely to roll out a promo too, but they've been a tough sell as of late.

I don't think the T2 using RP's 2/40 deal is a ripoff. eBay prices for RE5 and Arkham Asylum (which 2/40'd) are less than the cost of ME2. I'm getting a good deal.

not talking about newer games, I meant cheap older games good for trade in deals. But if you see a good selection of those, maybe you just get there before I do than , I don't really bother checking BBV in these areas anymore unless I am actually going to that plaza for something else.

Cheapest game (@ retail locations) right now for T2 = MW/WaW (29.99 if not expired) or used Batman @ 29.99 (regular price) RP. As an alternative, tomorrow you can do 2/40 still so thats 1 other method.

The list is quite similar to lists seen @ gamestop.com so it looks like RP's finally learning. If you want a list that holds for an entire month without losing money, the only choice is to use new games. By the end of the month, we might see a few hot deals.

In terms of buying then trading games back at Rogers there is a couple games that may work. Remember you get a free game $19.99 or less along with the one you buy. So if you're only into trading you can probably find titles that will work towards T3GIF at either Rogers or EB.

Batman, Red Faction, UFC, Modern Warfare (I think), and RE5 are all hovering around the $30-$40 mark. Some of them may increase, or decrease in price over the course of the month however. UFC was $35 in December, but is now $40. RE5 was $30 during Boxing Week, but I am sure will be more now. But since Mass Effect doesn't come out for awile some prices may be lower come that time.

I doubt we're going to see any good deals on the T2 front. None of those games look like they have a chance in hell of dropping less than 20. Perhaps RFG or RE5 may drop to ~25 and can be combined with some other promo to make it worthwhile (B1G1F at RP to do a T3 and T2 or something like that). But I really doubt we're going to be seeing anything worthwhile at RP this month.
