So again, same as last year, I'm calling to haggle:

This is what I have right now:
100u - $49.71
VIP Cable -74.56 (this includes 1 x 3.0 terminal and 1 x HD terminal)
Monthly Total: $124.27 (although last month I was paying $120.20 but their rates went up).

Just called the Ambassador team and was offered taxes in $129 and everything stays the same, 24 month offer. I don't mind paying the extra $9, but it's the principal of it all.. I told them I'd sleep on it.

I had called Retentions and initially gotten Ignite 60 with 200 GB for $62 taxes in

I realized that 200 GB is not enough for me.

I called back and got Ignite 100 with unlimited GB for $72 taxes in

Is that a good deal? (no contract)

I have no problem to keep my W45 although Rogers tried to get me switch. The speed is fine with us.

Same thing. About $9 increase from the last year 50/30 discount (plus this year annual increases counted in). I don't think they can give anything more than what the marketing team provides them with for a specific month. Last year they wanted people off the old plans, this year they are not in a rush. (btw if you have BCB discount - they always forget about it when calculating the monthly rates for you. So in realty the price would be a few $$ less. Still sucks this year tho. At least it's 24 months. I'm getting tired of that charade every year. Have been doing it for 11 years now

seems like a pretty good deal to me. given the parameters it would be hard pressed to get a better deal given only 1 service. I was talking to the rep and he said they charge $2.50 for each gig over the total. That may be a rip off but at least I was told what I getting myself into. For $10 more, you get unlimited and faster speed. I think you can sign up for the Ignite 60/100 and downgrade/upgrade later in time if you find your usage does justify it. Just make sure the rep. marks it down in your file.

I was promised 30 percent off but I don't think I was promised a price lock/freeze for the entire contract. Were you guys/gays promised a price lock ? Other than the W45 for 8 years deal I don't really remember price freezes mentioned.

That's a good deal. You can get a reference number and tell Rogers you'll think about it. Then try to negotiate with Bell to see if they offer you something better.

I am looking to switch over from Bell to Rogers. I am in Ottawa, ON, would it better to contact Steve or Feizel? Does my location make any difference as to who to contact? Thanks!

exactly what do you want ? in terms of service/speed/channels ?

I find the discount prices are kind of fixed:
Ignite 100 - $65 ~
VIP - $55 ~
Home phone - $20 ~

These prices are more common for a bundle, so if you have 1 service its kind of more difficult to move.

In your situation, the only thing I can really recommend is maybe try to downgrade your Ignite 100 to 60 or even 30 (depending on what you speed/usage requirements).

try calling Steve, its a toll free phone number (on the first page), he will tell you upfront what he can or cannot do.

My current discounts are expiring, so I called today. I selected to cancel all services, then when the CSR got on the phone I asked to speak to retention dept. He said they changed things and there is no longer a retention dept., but that he was a "service concierge" which is one step above a regular CSR so he could help me (sounds like retentions to me). He offered me this:

Internet:
- Ignite 100 (100 down/10 up)
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Modem rental included

Cable:
- Digital VIP
- Free Netbox 3.0 HDPVR rental
- Shomi, etc.

Home Phone:
- Favourites plan (6 features?)
- 500 minutes free long distance in North America

Price: $157.03.

No contract on phone or TV, but 2 year contract on internet. I tried to convince him to include a free Netbox 3.0 terminal in addition to the PVR, but he said it would be $7.50, and that he can only give one box for free. I also said I didn't want the contract on the internet, but he wouldn't budge on that either. He put the quote on my file, which apparently is good for 30 days. I'm gonna try again tomorrow and maybe cancel and go the ambassador route if they won't do better. The price seems good to me, but it seems like others have got a similar deal with no contract and free HD box thrown in.

Also, he quoted me for the above bundle but with Plus instead of VIP, that dropped the price to $142.35.

downgrading the ignite 100 to 60 will have a bandwidth cap of 200gb, which is not enough for me, if they could knock down any $10 that would be amazing

Getting basic cable for $15 is pretty good for rogers. $65 for 100U is the standard offer now but a few still manage to eek out $60. Don't feel compelled to stay, go with Bell if they are offering something better.
