Rogers Rounding Extra Usage UP!

When did Rogers change their policy to round extra internet usage up?
I usually stay under the cap, but the odd month here and there I would exceed by 1 or 2. Then I pull out the modem and just tether on Speakout for retaliation.

Recently I went over 120gb on my plan, currently at 122.51gb. I'm charged however for 3GB... Usually When did this change?! Usually for example, if I used 122.99gb, I would just be charged for 2GB

Their legit-misleading information site: http://keepingpace.ca/faq.html mentions:
"2. Round to the nearest gigabyte".

A year ago, http://web.archive.org/web/201209192029 ... a/faq.html mentions:
"2. Round DOWN to the nearest gigabyte"

Big difference how the word "DOWN" can be.
Clearly this is a change in TOS, but I don't remember being notified... Especially people on the lower tiered plans this affects them more.

As in usage ALWAYS rounded down. As in billing only took the most significant WHOLE numbers.
In this case... Billing 122.51gb would be seen as 122.XX, and just be charged as 2 extra gigs (i.e., 122.01gb to 122.99gb).

But right now. Anything past 122.01 to 122.99 would be treated as exceeded 3 gigs. 1 extra gig.

it's not rogers' fault that you are with rogers.

By your definition, Rogers is applying normal rounding. Not rounding "up."

I'm sure they changed it after noticing people would get to 0.99GB and shut off their modems in "retaliation" lol..

There was probably a notification somewhere that you didn't even look at. I know I get notices all the time from my utilities that go straight in the bin :D Still, they're not rounding UP, they're rounding to the nearest number, which... Sort of makes sense? Not sure why they don't just calculate it properly to the megabyte.

I think your main problem is being with Rogers. All the rest fall under that category.

I signed up for a tablet plan and I used it for a few days (3) before regretting it and cancelling. Rogers decided to bill me for 3 months.

It took me one hour to negotiate with a CSR until she went from talking to the manager, then telling me that they wouldn't take my call because I was no longer their customer, and then 20 minutes of haggling, then I had to argue with her to send me to the supervisor, which then forwarded me to a manager, then they decided to give me one of the months back as a gesture of "goodwill".

F*** you Rogers. They also billed me for text messaging on a tablet plan! LOL!

TL;DR Rogers billed me for 3 months for 3 days of usage.

So I checked back on previous month usage.
86.88gb, monthly summary, 86gb. Rounds down...
122.51gb, monthly summary 123gb. Rounds up... Meaning they can charge that extra gig.

They are rounding up for extra usage.

Anyways, my ideal is paying Rogers as LESS as possible fitting my needs. I'm on 50% off internet plans, so I'm paying $34+tax each month.

The constant outages and complaints over the past several months? I wouldn't want to be out of internet for 16 days because the issue is still being "investigated".
