Has anyone had to deal with bringing in your own phone (in my case an unlocked iPhone 4s directly from Apple), and being told you were signing on for month to month, but finding out later the store rep was dubious and signed you onto a 3 year contract? Rogers is giving me nothing but grief over the matter. There is no way in hell I'd bring in my own phone and sign a contract.
Reps on the phone have been condescending.
Unfortunately I did not catch the "3 year term" while signing as I was continually told it was month to month by the rep and and I was dealing with an inpatient parent who was getting tired of waiting around as the Rogers computer system was very sluggish (was still early in the iPhone 4s rush).
Thought I'd inquire here as someone might have some insight on what I can do to resolve this issue. I'm not about to shell out a massive ECF when I was only supposed to be month to month.

The Samsung Galaxy Q Is an Android 2.2 phone.. Get that as I THINK It would be the best out of the three?
The LG Phoenix Is also Android 2.2.. So looking at the $ value the best would be Samsung unless the Symbian OS thingy Is good but I don't know much about the Symbian OS.._______________

Say It was only supposed to be month-month because If It were for a 3 year contract you would have gotten some benefits.. In this case a HUP or a phone.. If they say you got the iPhone 4S then tell them you bought It from the Apple Store and have the receipt.. They can't counter argue that because If they truely did HUP you a iPhone 4S they would have records/receipts of It but they clearly don't..
This seems like a tight situation for you.. There's no voice recordings for you to rely on because In the store they don't record sound do they!?_______________

Right now, I am 18 months into a 3 year contract with Rogers (expires Jul 2013). Under the old cancellation system, I would be faced with:
18 * ($20/month for voice + $5 for data) - $450 to cancel
If I were to renew my contract, not take a HUP, I can't seem to figure out how much it would cost to cancel since I would receive no subsidized phone.
Anyone??
Current plan is 200min - way too much, unl incoming (credited), VM/CID/2500 Text VPlan, 100 min LD (credited but not really needed) 6gb data for about $60/month
I really don't need 200 min , 50 is more like it. I really just need data, unl incoming (use my voip line as a callback) texting (about 150/month), CID/VM City Koodo unlimited looks good, but so does the Telus $7 one number add on for their prepaid service (but need data...)
Any ideas? I am not loyal to rogers, I dont' care which provider I go with. The only problem is that Wind/Mobi are out because of no coverage where I live (60km s/w of Ottawa)_______________

Might be his best option but just a warning, if he gets a HUP he will have to resign his contract.

I am just wondering. If I renewed my contract around Dec 20, am I under the new ECF or the old?
Thanks.

When did you "sign" this 3 year term. Because if it was after Jan 22, then your in a manageable spot. Since i'm assuming you did not take a new device (since you brought your own iphone 4s) then to cancel based on the new policy would only be $12.50 since you did not get a new device, hence no device subsidy.
If its on the old terms, see if you can get a rep to renew your plan on a new 3 year term (thus getting onto the new policy). Then cancel after that.

lol., aside from the fact that you're asking a KOODO question...in a ROGERS thread??...I'm gonna just say, compare the two coverage maps for Bell & Rogers in the areas you regularly frequent. That's the best way to figure that out. Well...the best way is to get a month-month line activated with Kood (Trial line?) and take it along with you for a month to see how it performs.
