For now. This is how these things always start.
Yup. And it's not just Rona: Lowe's announces plans to close more than 50 stores in US, Canada and Lowe's to close 31 stores across Canada
Three stores in the GTA have been marked for closure — two Rona locations in Mississauga and the Lowe’s at Centrepoint Mall. Lowe’s said is expects to close the impacted stores by the end of the company’s 2018 fiscal year — Feb. 1, 2019.

Very sad news. They are Canadian owned AFAIK.
I find the tone of this article kind of funny and overly dramatic.
"B'ys been working here for almost 30 years and then one day they just come in and it's all gone."
Uh, no. You came in one day and were told that it would be all gone in 3 months.
Employees not given warning
Uh, that meeting was their warning. Y'know, so they could hear it from their management and not from the news.

The one closing in BC is super small and really only caters to the apartments in the area. Not much of a loss... Don't know if the same can be said for the other stores closing.

the one closing at centerpoint is pretty surprising cause they took over the Target location there so it's pretty new.

Not so sure your crystal ball is performing as expected or possibly its time to rethink the connection with the BIL. Unless of course you thought this up all by yourself.

Wow centerpoint now lost two anchor tenants in 3.5 years.

I wonder how much Lowes is losing running that store.

Dammit. They just opened that a few years ago at Centrepoint. I bought most of my reno basement stuff there. It's a bit smaller but I liked that store !

To be honest I've passed by that Centerpoint location many times and always felt it was an odd area to have one when there's more condos than homes in that location. I did too like the smaller and quieter store.

I'm surprised these stores are still branded Rona, seems Lowes wanted targeted regions only. This was likely the plan from the takeover point 24(?) months ago.

Hopefully they rebrand & rework the remaining Rona stores... The former Rona mgmt is likely dissolved and well paid out so no longer a problem at the board meetings.

Isn’t that one open like less than a year?

The new west location is horrible. Having to cross bridges to get to it, which writes it off in rush hour. Unless you live in Queensborough.

Why so pessimistic?
