probably failed due to it being too cold.
never start any electronic that is cold.
always let it warm up to room temperature before you turn it on.

RRoD on XBox 360 elite - Temporary - odd
I have XBox 360 elite with the 175 watt power supply - dated Nov 07
I had the box in car overnight (Toronto area - temp was about -3 overnight and at +3 during the day - so not very cold) and brought it into the house and plugged in and got Red Ring of Death.
20 minutes later it worked fine.
Is this something I should be worried about or was it just a temporary thing due to the temperature change?

not be a downer, but my very first xbox started RROD's slowly, once and a while, just a quick reboot fixed it. eventually it just died.

Do you still have the receipt? I wouldn't worry too much, but it might be a good idea to get it exchanged just in case it's a faulty machine.
I've left my old xbox in my jeep for a night in the dead of winter before, but never had a problem with it. Try to get it checked out if you can - better to be safe than sorry, right?

i wouldnt worry to much but wait a few min before turning on electronics from cold to hot, the board could cause moisture and can burn it

Don't worry for now unless it happens again, then be prepared. Mine started to get the RRoD more and more frequently until it died. It's hit and miss because my cousin's got it after a power failure maybe 3 or 4 months ago while playing and has never seen it again.

Keep a close eye on it. Most xboxes that RROD do it once, then you will be fine for a few weeks, then the occurances get closer and closer until it's on all the time.

Hmm, I got to see the 3RROD for the first time on my console last night too (mnfg. date May-2006). It's working fine now, but I already call M$. I am not taking any chances, and will send it in for repairs. I am wondering what happens if the 360 still works when they get it, like it is now. Is there a log for errors on a eprom? Are they going to "apply the fix" or just send it back to me

My xbox RROD whenever the power flashes out at my house.

This is how it started for me.. we have a couple quick power outages in one night and the 360 would start up with thr rrod.. then 2 mins later be ok..
keep an eye on it.. and if your warranty is coming near the end.. look into getting it repaired.. I hear if you want to accellerate this you just wrap a towel around the vent holes of the 360 for it to overheat.. I myself would never do this but just a thought..._______________
