RRSP / Bonus Tax Question

Hi,

Still learning to do my own taxes so have kind of a stupid question.

I contributed a portion of a year end bonus to my group RRSP and thought that it was done pre-tax, but the tax slip I got for it looks like any other RRSP tax receipt I've ever received so how do I know if I can claim the amount or not?

Thanks in advance!

If you got a slip claim it.

Although your company sent the contribution to the bank for you. You should still get a receipt.

You want to check your rrsp contribution limit for 2014 from last year's return. You can claim any rrsp amount within that limit that was contributed in 2014 or in the 1st 60 days of this year.
