Their prix fixe menu was much better a few months ago. You had the choice of any side, dessert or app (not 100% about the app) and IIRC correctly, the entree choices were better.

it was the best before when they had the prime time special, just have to order before 6:30pm, but sadly they stopped it

How does Ruth's Chris steaks compare to less expensive steaks you get from Canyon Creek or Moxies? (two places I've ordered steaks from that I think taste pretty good) - is it worth the price premium?

oh, Ruth's is definitely a step or a few steps above those retaurants.. can't even compare. RC is like Morton's but I'd put Morton's above RC.

Tip for ordering a steak from RC especially if you're ordering a small cut.... because they serve your steak on a plate that's is super hot, you should order your steak a little more rare then usual cuz it continues to cook on the plate. ie. if you like medium then order med. rare.

4flava's got a dancing cow as his avatar, I'd heed his advice.

The better question is, which is better, Harbour60, Barberian, or Jacob & CO? But that's another thread

I've never been to Harbour Sixty or Barberians, but the wagyu at Jacobs & Co is incredible. My favourite restaurant in the city...

Mortons is an overrated overpriced steakhouse - horrible steaks and subpar service for their prices. It's a steakhouse for the uninformed and ignorant.

If you want a good steak check out barberians or Tom Jones steakhouse. Harbour 60 is also good as is Jacobs.
IMO - Ruth's Chris is a step below these, and is only good if you like your steak sizzling in a lake of butter.

I agree! It was very yummy and I used the $88 gift cards which I paid $44 for it. It sucks how they took out the choices of dessert and no more coffee or tea > :(

Have a look at the new book "Steak" out now. The author found his best steak in some small out the way place from beef fed naturally (not corn feed).

Claims the Keg/Ruth's etc is all the same. I believe him, I've had the best meat in out of the way places from naturally fed animals.

Interesting stuff.

Lol @ this comment. RC is in another stratosphere in terms of quality.
My mouth waters for that Rib Eye. Too bad I'm in BC and have to go to Washington to eat it :(

I've had some fabulous steaks at Moxies, but went to Ruth's Chris for Mother's Day, and OMG. Blew everything else away. It was double the price, but it was triple the delicious.
