Online CECN506, written exam on Saturday. Will there be a formula sheet? If so, what kind of formulas? :S I hate cramming @_@
he said he will provide one. Would have been so much better if we made our own

Understand everything from the online modules (meaning make sure you can do all the calculations), do all of the M/C questions in the textbook on the chapters you are being tested on (there should be only 5 per chapter)

and do the easy short-answer questions for the chapters you are being tested on (ignore the ones that could take >15 minutes to do as she won't test you on that). The easy ones are most likely the first few questions.
Thanks. I'll try to understand those. BTW can anyone give me hints about FIN512 with Giulio Iacobelli? I'm kind of stressing about chapter 8 & 9 calculations. Especially since 512 and 502 are back to back on saturday, following 501 on Friday.

On side note found the acc801 exam to be very reasonable

<3 Donna Zathy. Can't teach but extremely fair tester. The book for 514 is good for self-learning anyways.

Honestly CECN506 has to be one of the easier online course to take. The prof skips most of the more involved formulas/questions and really only asks for the basics. Look back on both assignments and you will see a pattern of only the most basics questions from each chapter being asked. Look at his mock final and there is very little in the way of anything difficult. His modules are very good and provide enough information to do well in this class. The text does get more involved but is not going to add too much. If you get a chance to see the text you will see that the course could be much more complex.

Good prof and good class for what it is.

Took 512 with Iacobelli this Spring. Final couldnt have been any easier. For the last two chapters try to know them inside out as its not open book. Know the approaches income capital retention, etc. Know how to calculate them. And know few lists of things as segregated funds, beneficiary-revocable and non revocable. Difference between pure and level premium. Lists of Underwriting categories Facets to insurance operations. As for the rest from chap 1-7, its so easy you wouldnt believe. Just got to know where to look for stuff. The back of the book vocabulary helps big time. GOodluck

Yeah im cramming for this as well, but i dont think itll be bad. Judging by the assignments/his practice questions/mock exam, I don't think he's going to include any crazy calculations. Any calculations from the assignments are fair game, and he gave us the short answer topics. Don't really like how its worth 60% though.

Anyone want to help me out with picking my profs?

For FIN 401, I can pick from Scott Anderson, Sirajum Sarwar, Michael Inglis and Mellisa Toffanin.

For ACC 514, I can pick from Gwen Roberts, Donna Zathy and Keith Whalen.

Anyone want to help me out if they have some info on these profs?
I hear GG things for Michael Inglis

Now as for 514 you have a choice to suit your needs.
Overall Gwen is the best choice, she knows her students, easy to follow in class, fair test, and you should be able to remember a few things for upcoming test.

Keith Whalen, use recycled midterms, a lot of talking, fair to lenient marker, like to talk a lot, but fact of the matter is still self teaching class.

Any ACC 521 tips with Caplan??

Really truly the fact of the matter is all his questions are straight from the testbank

Anyone have any tips for ACC 521 (Auditing) exam?

I've got that and CECN 506 tomorrow back to back so I'm reading the modules right now and then need to finish up 521 studying.

I dont post on rfd but this just has to get out. If you guys have the answers for the final exams ie you have the TB, for the love of everything holy DONT WALK OUT AFTER 10 MINUTES! You wont believe the amount of idiots that have raised the suspicion of profs by doing this. Its one of the reasons TB exams are being phased out.

Good. It's time the professors actually make up their own questions and don't just sit there on their butts doing nothing. Only exception I'll give is if it's their first time teaching the course, such as Eric Kam and ECN 506, or if it's a new course. However, I think he makes the questions himself... He's giving us a real, high quality education. We need less of these people anyways. Solutions manuals, I believe, should be given out so we know how to do the homework properly and see where we went wrong. I don't do the homework I'm assigned because I have no clue if I'm doing it right or not... You can't learn from notes for many things, like accounting and finance.
