Safe to eat fish from Lake Ontario?

I caught a massive salmon today in Lake Ontario (niagara end) and decided to keep it due to its size. Is it safe to eat? I've already gutted it and refrigerated it.

The fish was 40 pounds, and maybe 3.5 ft (didn't measure exact length).

No. Anything from Lake Simcoe is okay.

I once heard somebody developed film using water from Lake Ontario. But hey, your call.

Would you drink the water from Lake Ontario? I mean go down to the lake, each day, and drink a big glass of water?

No, but I wouldn't drink the water straight from any body of water either... I don't see how this relates.

I can walk to Lake Ontario from my house. I personally do not want that water to touch my skin. So I'd have trouble eating anything from there.

Well your fish did. Everyday it took the water through its gills and absorbed everything that is in Lake Ontario.

Nonsense? It's polluted; you can't argue that.

+1

The Don river used to be an industrial dumping ground, where do you think that stuff ended up? "The solution to pollution is dilution" was the mentality when Toronto was more industrialized...

I wouldn't eat anything out of lake ontario, but that's me.
